I work at one of my bosses side businesses once a week. I get paid cash for it off the books. There used to be one other person maybe two years ago, when I was getting paid $12/hr. When they left she increased my pay to $15/hr which wasn't such a bad deal because it is easy work. Now it is just me, but frankly I understand why. It's not enough work to warrant more than one person usually. My problem is I'm not 100% sure that my pay is $15/hr, only about 85% sure. It was never written anywhere, just verbally which is why I'm reaching out for help. I've been working here for about 2.5 years. I wasn't a confident person when I was hired so I let myself be taken advantage of. I'm in my twenties. I'm supposed to work 9:30am-2pm, 4.5 hours. She gives me $60.00,…
I've been applying to entry level remote jobs for months now and none seems to want to hire me and the ones that do seem like MLM jobs. I have been applying to various data entry jobs and I meet most of their requirements: has a high school diploma, has good typing speed, decent PC setup. Yet I get constant rejection letters saying they are looking for other canadates. However, most of the jobs I've gotten in the past were because they were friends of my dad and they offered me a job. For example: I got my current security job because my dad was friends with one of the Supervisors. I got my intern job at a computer repair shop one time because my dad was friends with one of the employers there. I'm thinking of quitting my job at my security and my dad has been offering me…
Labor blackballing.
Have you ever worked a job where your boss spread extemely personal information around, just because they found out you have extreme social anxiety? How do I prove it? And yeah… This sucks.

The indeed one click application.
Has anyone ever received an interview after applying through indeed specifically using the “apply through indeed”. Where it only takes a few seconds to apply. Important I am not talking about a recruiter reaching out to you, or when you have to be redirected to the company website to fill some stuff out. Or has anyone received an offer? I swear there is customer service roles sometimes with 30 applicants, sometimes with 600 applicants, I have applied to maybe 100-200 jobs I would say 80% I’m qualified or over qualified and nothing. I have received a couple interviews after recruiters reached out to me, and I have done a little better when going to company websites but is indeed literally there for absolutely nothing? Are all these jobs fake, and companies just looking to get their PPP loans forgiven by not hiring? Are we actually in a workers market?
Am I being stubborn or is this too much?
Hi team, apologies for the formatting I’m on my phone. I work for a luxury brand, and I assist with after sales – so if someone needs something repaired they come to me. The issue I’m having at the moment is the company is willing to bend over backwards for customers at the expense of making me look like an idiot. I have to tow the company line but if someone complains enough, management will do anything for them. I’m talking free repairs/replacements for items that are years out of warranty/damaged by the client (sometimes deliberately because they want something new). Customers are now aware that if they abuse me/complain enough they’ll get whatever they want. I know it’s not coming out of my pocket but I’m sick of the company putting “clients” (the one today bought a single small ticket item fourteen years ago – I wouldn’t call that…
Coworkers are leaving & my job is a mess
Hey guys I’m not sure what to do here. I’m in a super tight place, I work at my local clinic taking in workers comp patients & I’m a part time student at my local university. Recently it seems like employees that are hired like MAs or Front desk don’t last more than a few months. Within my span of almost a year I’ve seen about 5 employees come and go. My recent coworker left unexpectedly without saying anything & left me all the work, I have weeks worth of paperwork at my desk & I can’t attend to it due to the phone ringing all the time & need to attend the current patients. I get yelled at by patients & our providers because I’m falling behind or bc paperwork isn’t done yet however I’m the only one trying to juggle everything, they recently hired a new MA who’s…
Glorified call center job
Hello, I started working for a company that is a WFH call center type of job. I took the position back in November, and waited until January to start the position. They offer 4 weeks of training, and then 2 weeks of phone training. Disclaimer: I do have anxiety (and I am working on not being as much of an empath), my therapist recommended doing a WFH job to see if I liked it. Now that I am on the taking calls part of training it is mentally and emotionally draining for me. I am almost having panic attacks before I go to work. •We are so micromanaged it is insane. •They record every call and audit them. They also audit, and micromanage every ticket “request” we submit. They also do “shop” calls which is basically like they call in to make sure you are following protocol? •Management isn’t helpful…
Warning: Long rant Seriously I HATE THEM! In no particular order: When you go apply they give you random pop quizzes that you had no clue about. You're totally caught off guard. I'm okay with the random drug tests though. They completely LIE to you! “Oh yeah everyone likes this job. You'll like it”. You show up to your first day at the job they found you and every one of your coworkers looks miserable being there and they all want to go home. Everyone is quiet during break time. Either looking at their phones or eating. When they tell you this warehouse job will be full 8 hours. I tell the staffing agency great I really need the 8 hours because I have bills to pay. They smile and tell you where to go and what time you have to be there. You show up 20 minutes early.…
I am working in a country where childcare leave is mandated by the government. Last I checked, we are still in a pandemic and my daughter came home from preschool with a runny nose, sneezing and a slight fever. At about 6pm I check in with my boss through WhatsApp if I can take leave to care for her the next day, if her condition worsened. My exchange with my boss went like this: Boss: Can't your wife take care of her? Me: She's a teacher, and it's school term, so it's hard to take leave on her side. Boss: You have help right? Me: My helper has her hands full with my other child, an infant son Boss: No other help? You know, I've given you too much last minute time off recently Me: [Shocked that my previous childcare leave requests have been considered “last minute time off” when…
