My Company Wants to Force All New Hires to Work from Office instead of Tele-commuting

So I used to think all of you were idiots who didn't wanna work but still wanted a six figure salary, but after reading and lurking through your guys subreddit, yall are alright. I'm now a convert, comrades help me! Here's my current employer battle/issue: I work in tech, my boss wants me to commute to the office and work from the office 100% of the time, but all the other Devs/SupportPeople/QAs don't work from home, I was told that working from the office 100% is OFFICIAL POLICY, but I was hired only 6 months ago. Why can't I work from home but everyone else I talk to in the office, they work from home anywhere between 1-4 days a week. Meanwhile I must commute 60+ miles a day roundtrip, why must I work from the office when I can work from home? So my battle plan is simply to…

My job is trying to get me to work with a 100 degree fever, not covid, because of a 2 person town mandate.

I work for a gas station chain that runs throughout New York state. I work the overnight shifts 10pm to 6am. We have 3 people who work these shifts. It's a 2 person shift with a register and a deli counter. We're in a slower area of town because of steel mills and other factories near by. So it's mostly workers or travel traffic. Less than 50 customers a night spread out over 8 hours with the first 2 and last 2 having the most customers as it's the end and then start of a day for people. This store can easily be run by 1 person and only isn't because of a “town mandate” requiring 2 people or so my managers and district manager have told me. Yet time and time again I've worked alone. call out after call out. they straight fire my coworker without a back up…

Got fired/ quit as an Escape Room District Manager

I used to Work for an Escape Room, I also lived upstairs in the same building. The building is owned by my employers as well. Big mistake. I became convenient, but I was tired of having to take $25.00-$50.00 Ubers to get to work quickly because an employee was a no show or did something wrong and now I have the Owners breathing down my neck to get there (regardless if it was a day off). Moving into the building came with a pay raise, I went from $15.00 to $18.00/ hr. With my pay raise came an obligatory, “you must show up once a day everyday to make sure everything is running smoothly and encourage the employees”. Now when you run an Escape Room with the prestige we had- (I’d made it number 5 to number 1 Escape Room in Atl thanks to previous managerial and design experience)- you…

Is it me or there are hardly any job that are $22+?

It seems like majority of jobs are always around or at less than $22/hr. Those so-called heavy machinery jobs? I just saw posts hiring for $15/hr. Salary.com says otherwise it supposed to be like a 70k job. What else did you come across that gave you a bad taste in the mouth that a job was supposed to be paid for?

Reign of terror

I feel like these companies that keep giving raised to their CEOs and brag about record profits forget about the French revolution. It wasn't just the king who got his head cut off.

Reminder that Amazon Prime is in no way necessary.

As companies raise prices but refuse to raise wages, we need to coordinate to take back what we’re giving. Talk with our wallets, so to speak. If you have a subscription to Amazon prime, cancel it. Don’t give them any more money, try to buy from other sellers, shop at other sites. We need to make it very clear that we don’t support Amazon’s non-commitment to helping their people.

Company contacting me when I’m not at work and expecting to have access basically anytime to me.

Background I work as a nurse on weekends fri/sat/sun on night shift. One of the supervisors was texting me about some missed/incorrect charting and asked me to come in and fix it. I live 45 min away so it's not something I can just pop in for. I did come in on a day I was in town. But after that I continued to be contacted about questions regarding a patient, or policy, nothing life and death, all things that can wait until my next scheduled work day. I sent the supervisor a text asking them not to text me work matters to my cell phone and to use my work email instead. Work matters to me included questions regarding a patient, not necessarily anything with scheduling. It wasn't a problem for me if they wanted to text and ask if I was available for a shift I just don't…
