Title says it all, I hate it when my employer expects that I'm going to spend time outside of what I'm paid for to spend time with my colleagues. These aren't my friends, these aren't people I want to spend time with, I spend time with them purely because I'm paid to do so. IF there is an event during work hours and I get to go instead of work then maybe, MAYBE! Then again, I would often much rather just work quietly on my own and go home early. Christmas parties are slightly different, I don't mind spending one of my evenings if I'm being fed and given alcohol.
