A popular franchise that promises something like “weirdly quick delivery” in my town currently has one person running it. I wouldn’t usually care (or know that) but I had a birthday recently so I got an email for a weirdly fast sandwich to be delivered for free! Awesome, right? The second my order was sent in, I was called and I was told, by the most exhausted sounding young man I can imagine, “I’m the only one here, we don’t have any other drivers”. I said well it sounds like you don’t have ANY drivers, much less workers? And he apologized and the conversation was over. I could tell he felt terrible about the fault of the company. I have PTSD that's triggered by people raising their voice or aggressively yelling at me. My boss did both of those things to me on Friday, and so I plan to let him know on Monday that Friday was my last day (I'm not going to explain the whole situation. Just know that it was definitely uncalled for.). They can fire me with little to no notice, so I don't see just quitting with no notice as being “unprofessional”. I'm fortunate enough to be in a situation where I can just leave my job and I'll be alright for a little bit while I look for another job. So I guess this is just me tipping my hat to those of you out here who can't just leave their jobs. We all deserve so much better and we shouldn't have to be treated like we're beneath the ultra wealthy.
