Edited for grammar. TL;DR: I asked for a long-overdue raise from $12 to $14/hr and was denied and punished simply for asking, so I quit: within 18 months, most other employees also quit and the company is so desperate for workers they’ve raised the base pay to … $14/hr! Background: I had been a vet assistant both in private practice and in an animal shelter environment and had a lot of experience in the industry. Being fired for criminal background
So yesterday I was called into HR, and I was told that they had no idea I had a criminal background. I've worked for this company for nearly 2 years and had disclosed this information to the site manager as well as the director at the time of my hire and they told me that HR and all other relevant people were informed. I can understand not offering me employment due to a criminal record, but can they fire me 2 years down the road? I know they can fire me for literally anything, but this seems like wrongful termination. Would really appreciate any advice here. Just for clarification, I have had no issues with the law in over 10 years.
( I do not want to debate COVID politics ) but I am tired of knowing too damn much about my employers and their views on politics and culture. I don't want to work for a company that takes selfies at the truck convoy, and complains when they see me wearing a mask. I shouldn't have to explain my or my family's medical issues for them to not look down on me for wearing a mask. If they carry these views as Christian conservatives, what else about me would they hate? I want to be seen for the work I do and not that political views I don't agree with.
