Today an employee informed us she would be late. This employee is late quite a bit but it is due to her mother's illness and train issues (all verified via MTAs own site) Today unfortunately her mom passed away, and to escape the house (against my wishes) she came in to support her team. The HR Director wasn't happy with her being late and upon her coming in came down on her and her response was perfect. HR Director: Late again per usual. Employee: I am sorry I had an emergency. HRD: Of course you did, what is it this time? Stalled train? Emergency Brake? What excuse will you reuse? E: Actually I informed you of my mothers illness some time ago. Today she passed away but no worries she can only die once so you won't hear that excuse again. May I clock in? HRD: Oh I am sorry…is…
America Is Heading Right.
I don’t think my new supervisor knows what she’s doing and it’s making me want to leave my job. I’ve been at my job for 9 years. I’ve never ran into any issues with any of the staff members there. I’ve never gotten yelled at or blamed for anything. I tend to set up good relationships with everyone by chatting with them like “Hey if you ever need anything, just let me know and if I’m not busy and I get sidetracked, I will get it immediately, if not then I always get it the next day. Just always come to me” or with other people “Hey just let me know the night before, if it’s the night before it at least gives me a heads up so I can come in early and get things set up for you guys and take care of everything” Whenever they thank me…
I'm in the middle of an argument with a rich white 50-sonething lawyer I know and he's like “but remote work comes at the cost of corporate culture” and I'm trying to explain to him that on top of every other benefit of remote work, corporate culture sucks for pretty much everyone except those at the tippy top, from hiring, to sexual harassment, to pay, to microaggressions, etc. Pretty much every aspect. Can you help me find some articles to send to him? If I can get the info through his thick skull he'll adjust his opinion it just takes my pounding a metric fuckton of data into his head.
Is to unionize. Can't sign your union card virtually, can organize better in person. I bet they hate the idea of unionization more than they hate their losses in poor property investments.

I'd been coughing all weekend and didn't want to call out because last time I tried calling out for being sick my manager grilled me and told me I got sick more than most people (I had been throwing up all night). So I tried coming in today and when I got to work I was overheating and coughing which are both symptoms of covid so I texted my manager because she wasn't in yet “Hey I should probably go get tested if I have covid symptoms” to which she made me stay until my other coworkers lunch despite having enough people to cover her lunch. When my manager came in like 2 hours after I expressed I felt sick she got…
