I was licensed with my series 7 and 66 and worked as an investment advisor in a call center for one of the big financial companies. I made around $50,000 base with the chance to get a meager quarterly bonus that was based on how much $$$ we brought into the firm and how many new accounts we opened. Most team members brought in around $1 million per quarter. They made us compete with each other, so the top performer usually earned double the bonus of the poorest performer, and the average bonus was around $1500. I was fortunate enough to answer the phone one day and a very wealthy client opened a new account and ended up bringing over $50 million into the firm. My bonus was only $1000 extra that quarter, despite the fact that I had brought in the same amount of money as 50 employees. I…
Just some thoughts on giving notice
I just wanted to put it out there how jealous I am of y’all giving only two weeks notice or even no notice at all before quitting. Where I’m from, it’s legally required to give 10/20/30+ days of notice, depending on how long you’ve worked there. For example, when I left my last job that I worked at around 2 and a half years, it was mandatory for me to give at least a 20-day notice. Even then, due to my boss’ manipulating it took me as long as 3 months to actually quit. It amazes me how different the laws can be across countries. Curious to learn about the laws and how it’s done in other countries as well!
So, the deal is that people really hate freeloaders. Not my term, actual term in the behavioral economics literature about people who don't contribute, just take, from society, This feeling is so strong, that societies go to great lengths to make sure everyone is contributing, (See: work requirements for food stamps, for example) But I read somewhere , don't remember where, that a certain percentage of people being “freeloaders” is actually less harmful to to ecosystem of the society than pulling out all the stops to get 100% compliance with contributing. It's a case of diminishing returns. It's tolerable and makes financial sense not to spend thousands of dollars making sure someone doesn't accidently get $16/month in food stamps, heaven forbid. (Yes, I understand people make contributions to society in ways other than paid work, but the works I've read about behavioral economics aren't about those contributions.) So…. does anyone…

Cheat the AI in job applications
Heyo! Just want to share my success story. I work for a PNW based, aerospace manufacturer and for years I was trying to get through the application process. After changing my resumes over and over again, I just started copy/pasting the job expectations at the end of my document and changing the font color to white. Then you let your resume ‘spill’ a bit onto the next page, and voila, the ai that reads your resume and choses if a person will see your resume reads the text, and the person looking at it is none the wiser. It might be unethical if they find out, but I’m done playing their games. I’m qualified for the job, why am I going to let some bot decide if I’m worthy of a job. In that same vein, if you are going to be messing with big union busting companies (Amazon, Kellogg’s,…
I started my current role in November and it has been pure hell. It is by far the most toxic environment I’ve ever been in. The work is very intense and it’s not uncommon for me to have to work 12 hour days in the regular. In our department we have 2 bullies. What makes it so funny to me is that this is a highly specialized professional field. And I have zero idea how these 2 haven’t got fired. Now I can deal with the 60 hours per week (even though it blows), but I cannot deal with being criticized at every turn by these 2 blockheads. For example, I was screen sharing during a meeting and going over a list of items that a vendor sent over to discuss. And one of these idiot bullies started berating me in front of the group and essentially laughing and yelling…
Happy Independence Day!

It's savage, frankly, Also, it took me ages to figure out PTO = Vacation days. LOL. Only in the US would you call it something so bloody obvious! Please RANT away…
Help — is this legal??
I’m doing a 1 month trial period for a US company remotely, though they are training me. Currently I have just been moving files around, but they said I will be planning a large event in France. They expect me to relocate to France for a year if I am accepted as an unpaid intern, and work 40 hours per week in exchange for a paid for apartment and food. This has a couple problems: They wrote that in exchange for my work, I would get room and board in Bordeaux for 1 year, however they said it’s unlikely I can get a work-visa or long-stay-visa, so they expect that I live there anyways?? I don’t want to get deported, but I would like to leave the USA. I calculated that food and rent for a single individual is around $1300 monthly, but I have my phone bill, train tickets…
