New jobs added

” Companies in the private sector created a whopping 497,000 new jobs in June” Honest question, do we know how many of these new jobs are people who already had another job, or how many of them are because of age restrictions being relaxed to allow hiring employees under 18?

Best way to mess with slackers

Im a contractor who works outdoors at customers houses without supervision. Aside from me it is just my crew lead and I but recently my boss has hired another guy to work with us but he's a big slacker. He weaponizes incompetance and knows how to do the work well but chooses to walk slow and half ass all his jobs. Soon enough our paperwork will show we arent getting any more work done with an extra so that will come on my crew lead and I here soon. He was also directly hired from personally knowing the boss and my boss isnt the best at understanding tricky situations, so Im afraid he might side with the slacker if I bring this up. Also this is a temporary Summer job for him so chances are he wont get fired if hes going to be here for a short time. What…

According to my sister I should stay at my toxic af job because of the money.

I've been working at my company for nearly 5 years now as a quality tech. My job is really simple and it does pay decent, but so much has changed over the past few years and they aren't good changes. I work at a warehouse where I do my work inside a lab and the other half is being on the production floor. I've expressed to my boss how I'd like to take the classes here to get certifications and grow. Well, nothings changed. I'm still a quality tech I, while my other coworker has the “II” next to his. I'm just sick and tired of the added work and the people. There's so much sexual harassment from the supervisors, but they never get fired. Ever. Because favoritism. I'm tired of how rude and nasty everyone is. It's high school all over. I'm really sick of the lack of opportunities…

My job has my HR approved breaks noted as out of adherence and it’s impacting my scorecard

There are some other areas I'm “struggling” in, but I was recently put on a verbal warning for my performance. I noticed while we were going over adherence, my HR approved breaks (for a doctor noted medical condition) were showing as out of adherence further bringing my score down. Am I reading too much into this or should I be concerned?

Why would a company ask me if I have Animals?

I recently filled out an application asking me if I had animals, it was for a company called Inotive. Is it because it is a pharmaceutical company? Why do they need to know if I have animals?

Overqualified, but still not good enough… WTF

So I have a degree in what many consider an “impressive” area. I have worked in tech, sales, and I write well enough that my resume/cover letter looks and sounds pretty great (thanks AP classes)… but because I’ve been often overlooked in these jobs for advancement or training—YES, GENDER AND RACIAL BIAS ARE VERY REAL IF YOU NEED TO BE REMINDED OR LIVE IN A FANTASY LAND—I feel as if I don’t have the hard skills to apply for jobs that reflect my degree and capabilities. On the other side of that coin, when trying to apply for “lower level” jobs, I’m told I need to “tailor” my resume to that job. WHY?! If I have the degree, worked in management, been in customer facing roles, have specialty training, then what in the hell makes you think I can’t be a goddam flight attendant??! I was referred to and applied…

I don’t like who I am at work.

My job has high turnover, long hours and more than its share of issues, but I swear there are days where half of it spent listening to complaints or even joining in on them. I'm a level-headed college graduate who busted his ass to get to middle management in a career that's the polar opposite of my degree, rubbing elbows with dropouts, the absent-minded ghetto and ex-cons. I complain more, the team openly curses (even at regional management level), and no other company has so much as responded to my applications in over a year of trying, so I'm feeling pretty stuck in a negative environment. My home life is a happy marriage with two young, amazing children in a nice part of town. I do it for them, but man, this can't be the thing I do until retirement.

Got fired for my Managers fuck up

This happened a few Months ago. I'm a student and worked as a receptionist with minimum wage in Germany. The job itself was fine and i liked working there. Well up until we had a switch in Management. The new Manager seemed pretty incompetent and lazy from the start, no Idea why she got the Position in the first place. She demanded evenings after work, every month, for “Teambuilding”. Those consisted of tasks she would give us that we had to solve in groups and present to the other group. The tasks were dumb and not really applicable in the real World, but at least we got payed OT so it was fine. At the end of the last “Teambuilding exercise” she had something to say to me in Front of the Team. 2 weeks earlier a coworker called in sick and i picked up the Phone. I asked If…

Job won’t tell me if I’m Seasonal or Permanent

I recently moved to a new city and got a job at a tourist attraction. At the interview they said they were hiring for both seasonal and permanent full-time. I told them I would only be interested in a permanent position. They said of course no problem. I got hired and honestly this is probably the easiest job I've ever had, I don't want to quit and generally have no complaints about the work atmosphere. However I wasn't too happy when I discovered that I had been coded as a seasonal employee. I asked my direct supervisor about it, and they told me that over the summer everyone is coded as seasonal, but that I'd be welcome to stay past the season if I wanted to. Around this time, the director of Human Resources sent me an application for health insurance. It's a really good insurance plan by American standards.…
