It's been a long time since I first read about the general situation for many, many Americans with few, if any, rights. Let's be real, a lot of employers own their employees and have all the power while the employees don't even enjoy any of the rights that are seen as very basic in large parts, if not all, of Europe. No, Americans in general don't have the same social protection as the French for instance, so if they were to protest or go on strike, they would suffer far more, short-term. From the outside, the status quo starts to look worse than the potential outcome from a strike or slowing down. Mini rant, I’ve been doing 1099 low voltage for the last 3 years and had my ups and downs but overall enjoy the freedom. I recently started a W2 job working on elevators and it’s pretty shit. The job itself is interesting and I would love to actually learn and further expand my skill set. My problem comes with all the bs you gotta deal with as an employee. One example would be taking a 30 min lunch break which is literally forced. It’s whatever but we travel a 4 hour radius throughout the day so good luck. Another thing being paid hourly in the service industry. Everybody at this company wants to work 10-12 hours a day 5 days a week & it’s usually just killing time cause the work isn’t extremely time consuming .. I’ll use my last complaint to mention the dumbass meetings which usually don’t consist…
