Turning in my resignation letter
After months of trying to GTFO of a toxic situation, today is the day. Found a job that will pay 30K more, with better benefits, in a field i actually respect. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Aging Idealist About To Snap
Let me first say that when I am into my job, I feel I am as hard a worker as there is. I can go a year without calling in, I'm a half hour early to work each and every single day. I get promotions (that pay…meh). But inevitably, I come to a point where I just can't take it anymore. Except I do, and I keep on. Maybe every three years or so I'll change one job for another mediocre at best retail job with garbage hours and low pay. Forget weekends, forget set schedule, forget even having two consecutive days off. Ever. I'm 47, pushing 48, and have no skills that will land me anywhere near anything lucrative. Oh, I went to college alright, and graduated top 5 of my class at a funeral institution. Know how much money I made off that $25,000 investment? $0.00. That was…
How to Bypass Prohance?
My company just forcefully installed Prohance on my work laptop. Do they capture screenshots or record screens? How to bypass this tracking app, will mouse jiggler or just keeping weight on the spacebar work, or do they track similar patterns or key logging?
Was checking the news to see if the strike qas still ongoing or not and theres articles that say it ended, and articles saying its still going. Does anyone have a definitive update on the situation?
A New Angle on Discrimination?
There's often a lot of discussion on here about the quirks, trials, and tribulations of workers, so I thought the sub might find this interesting… (Note I'm using the terms tolerant and intolerant… I don't want to to stereotype politics, since intolerance of others isn't an explicitly political issue. This isn't meant to be anti-anyone, either, but I can see how it might be perceived.) I recently interacted with a 'small business' (as a consultant) who now has a hiring policy (I can't confirm if it's in writing or purely in agreement with HR) that they will no longer be interviewing or hiring anyone with a personal residence in the states of Texas or Florida, or who has a high school diploma or university degree from a TX or FL institution dated after 2022. An HR rep further confirmed that certain other 'like-minded' states are pending consideration and exclusion. Luckily…
Moving to management position at company
Looking to get feedback from anyone that has gone into management and what your thoughts are after doing so. Was the extra money worth it? I'm on the fence as I like that my current job is low stress for the most part and I have great work/life balance. I do have young kids and want to be a part of their lives. I don't want a job where I'll be working all of the time or expected to answer calls/e-mails at all times. With the current state of the world having the extra money is nice especially with my family. Just looking to hear some input from those that have done this. Thanks
