I live in LA and for some reason every employer I have been with wants to give like 6 hours per day/30 hours a week. A minute over and they can write you up for getting the penalty lunch break. Just one job like that is not enough to pay like 1.3k+ in rent. I have to stay in Airbnbs because I can't find a roommate or get myself on a lease; Apparently landlords have these long interviews expecting you to be some kind of engineer or something. Even with a stable job. I work catering events and as a barista at a hotel. In both you have to deal with some annoying guests and shitty management but I try to stay positive. It is never enough to cover all of the living expenses and I am by myself. Friends I know have husbands that take care of them and…

New Starbucks CEO Works Shift as Barista
The day I stopped caring
Another post reminded me of this, it was several years ago but it still pisses me off. I worked at a car leasing/sale company. The owner was a complete narcissist and the general manager was beyond unstable. After a short while, it was easily seen that they were having an affair (he was married with two kids, she was single). She took the work wife thing to the extreme, because his real wife didn’t handle things the way she should have (puke). Over the years things became normalized, for lack of a better word, but even at the time my eye twitched when shit went down. Example, GM’s dishwasher needed replaced, she complained to owner about it over and over. So, being the cheap ass he was, he bought a display model and was going to install it himself. Except…he is stupid and reading directions isn’t something he does. I…
Well its obvious that the work culture in the us are made for the upper people, making at least 100k/year. Sorry for the others but you should go abroad. Why people do not speak about emigrating out of the us, to EU or autralia for exemple, to have a better life work balance ? Like peole are stuck in their minds and dont think that hapiness is.outside of the us for the average people.
After me and a colleague of mine had been summoned for a training, my boss didn't agree with my colleague coming to the course as well, but still said “that's fine” except then after 10 minutes “force” my colleague, by telephone, not to participate in the course in question. The same evening I sent a whatsapp message to my boss saying: “Doctor, however, I was disappointed that you changed your mind about Nick's course…I thought there weren't any problems, anyway, that's okay, it will be for another time” .. immediately after my manager replies: “john, you are taking a bad turn: O'Riordan, you are meddling in matters that are not yours. John, do not cross the lines. ” I then reply saying: “Oriordan without an apostrophe… and I didn't understand what the non-mine matters would be I would also like to understand what the bad path I have taken…
My workplace has no managers
I’m currently working for a franchise, and we have an interesting setup. There are no managers, even though there are people who’ve been there way longer than me, are older than me, and more invested in the company. Whenever they tell me to do something I do it. I asked one of these ladies about it one time, and she replied “I don’t get a manager’s pay”. Anyways, a couple weeks ago the schedule came out, and I wasn’t working Saturday so I made plans to drive a couple hours to see my semi-long distance partner. A few days before that, the schedule changed and I was expected to find someone to cover. Thankfully I did. Now, a week ago I asked off for a week mid May to travel with my family. It was given the ok, but yesterday I was told I’d be expected to find someone to…
