I left a job last week the day before my final work day of my 2 weeks notice. On Thursday (my last day was supposed to be Tuesday), they sent me a FedEx signature required letter stating that since I didn’t complete my last day of work (my cat died so naturally I didn’t come in), that it was job abandonment and to return my badge & come back to clean out my desk. I sent a certified letter back to them telling them to go to hell. This job had mandatory OT, no sick pay, and if you called out they’d pull you into an office for an hour to tell you how you were hurting the organization and that you needed to know that you made work harder for everyone else. My cat got really sick about a month prior (he was 17 years old), and I asked…
Any recommendations for hourly hotels?
Boss causing problems at work
I want to make this short, sweet, but detailed. I'm 23 (M) and started this job a year ago. I've gotten the hang of the job and gotten good at it even. We are a contracting janitoral service for a big company but things have been stressful. Our boss and Supervisor have had long infighting amongst themselves. Although it seems to me that the Manager (boss of our team) is the one who causes majority of our issues I can also see the supervisor being problematic as well (Putting his hands on my physical person in a non sexual way and being sexist.) The manager has berated or sworn at us, rushed us during our production work, disciplined me for using PPE (Earplugs in a room full of either loud music or machines), tries and divides us amongst eachother (there's certain people she like and her drama becomes the teams…
giving your notice vs being escorted out
If I give my two weeks notice and the company policy is to immediately escort out ppl who do so, doesn't that constitute a firing in Indiana? Or is it that since I declared intent to leave, its a moot point?
I'm seeking advice. My manager and district manager and Hr have been gaslighting us for months. Way too much to put into one post. Basically we got a new manager, she sucks. Breaks labor laws. Is rude to customers and coworkers. Doesn't listen to people. Makes people quit and then the rest of us have to suffer. I've spoken to hr and the DM and the manager herself about it multiple times. They'll say things will change but it always gets worse Recently I've been complaining about the fact that they have been putting more work on us and only scheduling 3 people during the day. We're a busy coffee shop. We're overworked and can't get anything done. They want us to prep for a health inspection but we can't cuz no staff I keep not getting a break bc of the dumb scheduling and the manager yells at me…
It’s the same everywhere
I'm from France, so I thought I would give you a bit of feedback from what goes on over there. Over a year ago I joined this company which works in a very specific field. They have an agency which is a 15-minute drive away from my home, and they offered a good starting pay and were opened to teaching beginners the particularities and technicalities of this profession which was entirely new to me. They taught me everything, from the ground up, and I was really surprised to see that, despite joining in October, they still gave me a Christmas gift package in December, which must've easily been worth over 100$. They also told me that I would be the manager of the agency I worked at within a few years ! Great ! But slowly over time and for no particular reason they've started treating me differently. Sending me…
Today’s bosses
Elin Musk is an Idiot
Why he asks? Because if he treats his employees anything like his Tesla customers on either side of the business, they are gonna need some PROTECTION.
I honestly have no idea where to post this, but this seems like a sub full of people that are frustrated by the corporate status quo, so I think this is a good place to start. Basically, during the pandemic we all shifted to nearly universal remote work. Many employers are working hard to claw back those policies and get people in corporate offices. Let me skip the whole pro/con of remote work conversation, skip any data, skip any benefit to either side, and simply say this: I believe if it’s possible to do a job remotely, we should be empowered to make the decision to be in office or not. So, if we can agree that this is worth fighting for, here’s what I propose. Let’s find a date on the calendar. Let’s rile up as many people as we can throughout the country (as I’m US based, and…
