For context: I am a electrical engineering student graduating in June in power systems studies field. I gave my boss a weeks notice that I wouldn't be looking to renew my contract(good technical work but horrible work culture) as I had recieved offers elsewhere. He sent out this bad boy and didn't hold back. Probably the worst email I've recieved in my entire life so far….(Am I pushy for asking for a 10minute f2f???). It is what it is. Fucked thing is I can look forward to dealing with this bullshit for my next 40 years of my professional working career….. https://preview.redd.it/i7sgooae4yza1.jpg?width=945&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=21f13b1238059bf0b2ea1ecf89fcab88bf5e902c https://preview.redd.it/6un97oae4yza1.png?width=945&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=1cfc941cf7e32b004344ceabaeef706828ee0d84 https://preview.redd.it/2niyepae4yza1.jpg?width=945&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=d88f65af4f0824565967b5c597dbe70e47eae45b
Got sucked into another Narccisist trap after talking multiple times in person/over zoom for a ” high end” chef who owns her own business. I moved from out of state with my partner and left my favorite job I've ever had for this position, only to be lied to, gaslit, emotinally abused and never given a break all within a half a month. I'm quitting tommorow morning, today was a total nightmare and after disassociating to stay capable all day, I came home and cried my eyes out after being verbally attacked all day. I left an abusive family/ stalker ex situation to move for saftey and starting fresh and immedeatly have felt unsafe in the worplace by a kitchen lead and the owner/chef right away. This is probably the last kitchen job I'll ever do after this beratement and abuse. All week we had this ” mothers day special…
I left sscurity work and that firm went under 🤷
Living the dream after making 85k for 2 and a half years working in tech. I don’t plan to go back, but I’m not ignoring recruiters offering big money. However I do want to enjoy myself and leave the traditional work headspace and explore more of my local area with my daughter, developing a healthy routine with my body, and re-evaluating the role and importance of money in my life (as the dollar’s value crumbles and life expenses grow ) Also planning to downsize and move from renting a house with an extra bedroom to a smaller apartment. My unemployment benefits are set to last a little bit of time but I am ambivalent about work. I am grateful to have been a remote worker during the pandemic while also welcoming my first child. But I can’t forget that I fought. Fought HARD. For THREE days PTO for paternal leave.…
My very understanding boss
Sharing some positivity. This guy is a gem and i wish everyone had a boss like him.
This hits the “bingo” of CEO cliches SMH https://www.news.com.au/finance/work/at-work/gen-z-workers-blasted-as-selfish-amid-calls-to-return-to-the-office/news-story/be18fad67a49d7962aed2b455f43c5cf
Seems like the push back to the office is due to tax incentives given to companies. As stated by bloomberg: “While some corporate types are convinced that the best work is done shoulder-to-shoulder in a traditional office, the Redditors are onto something. Cities and states grant billions in tax incentives to US companies every year to open offices in their area. Buried in the fine print of many agreements is the expectation that companies will deliver something in return: full-time jobs, done primarily on-site. New jobs bring new payroll, income and sales taxes — but not if they’re done elsewhere.”
Good Bosses
I was diagnosed with cancer and had (successful) surgery while employed. My bosses gave me unlimited time off and almost an unlimited amount of chili. Been back to work for two months and received a promotion and two raises. Unmatched employers. A job I’ll do forever.
Cost of outside agencies?
So those temp places or in healthcare when they bring in nurses or whatever that are with a separate agency….how much does the company pay the agency hourly? Like…if the person makes $20 through the agency, then the business is paying more than $20 to the agency, but what's the standard?
