Hi everybody! I'm currently working in a section of a company which is part of our cities critical infrastructure. My tasks are mainly working across the whole city in our companies own buildings (which only have many different devices and stuff, rarely other people) to maintain our existing devices and commissioning new ones. My main problem is that we got maybe a few hours of work each day and after that we are just sitting our asses off in those buildings until we can finally go home and I'm sick of it. Normally I have a colleague working with me but I got my first project now on which I am working alone. My working times are normally from 6 to 2 but the last few weeks I caught myself working from 9 to 11 max or I stood at home the whole day because I don't really see a…

Throughout my career, I’ve had yearly performance reviews from my supervisors where they tell me all the things I do well and need improvement on. It tends to be basic, being rated on a scale: average, above average, needs improvement, not applicable. But why can’t employees do the same? I have never been given the opportunity to share feedback on my bosses. We do this in college at the end of semester (professional evaluations). I’d love to see this become commonplace but I won’t hold my breath.

Been searching on Indeed and literally all I can find are jobs hiring for around $12-$18 an hour..

My new manaager said he didn't care about my schedule, as long as the job is done on time. Yet, this morning he was pissed at me for not “doing enough” the day I received a new task that, once again, I haven't been trained for. And I still have until the end of this week to finish it. I have to stop at every new word to google it and not do something stupid. Only one pf my new team mates has taken a little time to sit with me ans explain a few things. Therefore, he was also late for his work, and was also scolded for this. I already sended resumes to other companies. I'm not good enough after 2 weeks ? I bet I won't be after 2 months. Better cut us both some pain in the butt.

I'm lucky enough to have 2 jobs on the table for consideration – both equal in pay. Both have opportunies to grow and develop. 1 is: in the field I am qualified in in a very outstretched organisation, busy and stressful work life long hours in an office strict about holiday leave etc Good pension, no other benefits 2 is: flexible WFH associated with my career/quals but not as strong able to bring a dog to work excellent benefits include pension more relaxed/casual atmosphere Throughout the interview process #2 has been a clear winner in my eyes due to its work/life balance. Everyone I speak to my age (30s) is very pro #2 but all my older family are taking dooks on it…. like the better job is #1 because its harder work and therefore more valid. When will people begin to understand that my main priority with a job…
