I'm supposed to get paid every other Friday….Every Single Paycheck has been late… Apparently payday at this company is the day that payment gets processed…so direct deposit doesn't get put into my account until the next business day, which is Monday! And if it's a holiday on Monday then Tuesday! WTF! Anyone have any advice? Is this even legal? My understanding of 'payday' is it's the day an employer pays their employees… not the day pay is processed! I think I need to find a new job!
Hi all. I need some advice. I’m in the office two days a week, and on those days, I like to save my one hour lunch, that I get, for the end of the day. Helps me avoid the commute crush. The other day, my supervisor emailed me saying thanks for completing a massive project so fast- oh and take lunch in the middle of the day, per our handbook policy. Well I checked the handbook. Went over it twice. Used the search function in the PDF for “lunch” and “time off”. Zip. Zero. Nada. How do I express (politely) that I checked, the 11-2 rule is not IN the handbook, and that I would like to take my lunches at a time that suits me?
I manage a SmartStyle in Oregon. I've been here for 5 1/2 years, nearly 4 of which have been as manager. I've devoted my entire stylist career to this job, got the ratings from 2 stars to 4 stars within my time as management. I developed carpal tunnel by age 23 and continued to work even when it wasn't in my best interest. I've given up my free time, my life for this company because I loved what I do and the company I worked for. And I just got word, from the Walmart store manager, not within my company, that my salon that I've poured my life into is closing and vacating the space by June 1st. That's 6 days away, and my company hasn't told me. I heard it from someone else. I am so angry. I've had a gut feeling this would happen for the last couple…
So at my company, which is in NYC, we are allowed to clock in 15min early and start working. The thing is we never see this reflected on any of our paychecks. Is this legal/allowed in NYC? Other instances is when we clock in late and have to stay to make up that lost time. We are told that we have to stay 15min after our shift ends and then the clock starts after that to make up that lost time. The excuse is they use Kronos and that’s just how the system is. Is this stuff normal or allowed? We didn’t use to do this until a few months ago.

Living to work sucks
Forced to Switch to Second Shift
Picked up a weekend job working with kids and after a year I decided to leave my full-time job to go full-time working with kids BECAUSE my boss offered me a first shift position. This was a big decision for me as it was a major career change and 15% paycut. I’m 5 months in and now they’ve announced changes that basically leave me to work second shift (they are bringing in people for first from another location that is closing) or commute further and work with a different program of kids, or find a different position altogether. I had finally found fulfillment in my work and feel I have been robbed. I’ve been applying for other jobs and am considering just walking out on this job because I feel so devastated. I never would have taken this position without the promise of first shift.
2 Sorts, Working in Harmony
Here at package place we like to work as a team. How do I tell him I found it in the first place I checked? XD Side note, we have a cleaning crew that is probably tossing the papers they leave out all over others desks after their shift.
Doing HRs job and still getting ghosted.
Applied for an IT Help desk Tier 1 role. I have two years experience, one year as a tier 2. Which means I have had that job. And they promoted me. The description says that a cert is preferred. I apply and get told it's a requirement by HR. In true IT fashion, I include steps to reproduce and a screenshot showing this. Including platform. Ghosted, of course. Heaven forbid I get an interview for demonstrating technical writing skills.
