Position change but no pay increase
Hello Reddit, I figured this would be the place to post and seek advice. Some background: I work for a small company doing IT, it’s just me and the IT manager and I was hired on as “IT support specialist” but since being hired 6 months ago, I do way more than that like networking, scripting, group policy objects, managing servers, etc you get the idea. So I asked for a title change to system administrator and a pay increase. Me, my manager, and Vice President of the company sat down to talk about it and they basically said title change has been put into effect but the pay increase won’t be until next month due to “company policy”. Apparently they don’t do pay adjustments until “June each year.” Reddit- what do I do?
Job is in New York City
Even if it were true, why would you tell this to your direct reports? https://arrowheadconsulting.com/2021/02/24/the-p-i-e-theory-of-success-performance-image-exposure/ https://preview.redd.it/jjh4qv5049za1.jpg?width=1625&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=80aa4e2107e43a366b30d83fc6f652e8c15a3c67
So I never thought in a million years I'd have my own antiwork story, but here we are. Yesterday I walked into a subway to apply, and they hired me. Today I was being trained in and the manager was showing me how to clock in and out. The manager then told me something along the lines of “You make more than all the other employees because you're an adult and not attending high school. So you can NOT talk to anybody about your pay.” I've been frequenting this sub for a while so my immediate response was “you should know it's illegal to tell your employees they can't talk about pay.” And he replies “That's wrong, I've been manager for a long time I know what I'm talking about. You can't talk about pay with anybody here.” Not only that, but then he immediately goes and shit talks one…
Me taking a stand against management ….
Has anyone else experienced this…
You apply to a position you're definitely qualified for through, let's just say for arguments sake, Indeed at 1:00pm. At 1:14 pm on the same day you get an automated email from said company (not Indeed) saying they appreciate you applying for the position but at this time they've moved on with other candidates. How on gods green earth are they able to tell you “arent a good fit” and have moved on with other candidates in 4 minutes?!?!
Not my place of employment but in clear view of customers. Mandatory meeting that is a potluck. Must bring something from home or purchase it from the store (and I wonder if they mean their store).
