Difference between clocking out for lunch and leaving early.

So my boss just told me that even if I have 33 minutes left in my shift, I have to clock out for 30 minutes and come back for 3 minutes. I asked him what is the difference between clocking out 30 for lunch and leaving 30 minutes early. 30 minutes off the clock is 30 minutes off the clock. Right?

“WHY IS EVERYTHING LIKE THIS?! HOW CAN THEY DO THIS?!”

I see alot of disbelief flowing around the world and in this sub. People suffering and dying and corporations posting record profits and people posting callout threads in this subreddit where people passionately shout “YEAH! CRUNCH THOSE NUMBERS! SHOW THEM WE KNOW WHATS REALLY GOING ON!” And I realize that people have completely missed the point. I see people existing in constant existential anxiety, having panic attacks and other medically identifiable issues in response to stress just from existing in this hellish world, and I think to myself “Why is everyone freaking out so bad?? People aren't just used to this??” And then I remember that most of the world didn't spend the first 14 years of their life being beaten by their malignant narcissist of a father and aren't used to being used as a stress toy by someone who has more or less absolute power over you. Yall…

Program Chair training

In 2010 I was promoted to program Chair and was required to go to corporate office for additional training for 3 days. While receiving training I learned that my position was based paid at 40k more than my current wage. The other chairs I worked with also were underpaid. That 200k for us was deverted to enrollment for bonus incentives for the sales department. In those 3 days of training I decided to quit and leave during those days,. Most of the funding for the for profit college was deverted to management instead of classroom supplies. I had been working on 10% of the budget that my program was entitled to. When I reviewed all of this with my Dean she dismissed all of my statements.I produced all of the proper paperwork to began to get the funding to the correct places and she ended the meeting. I completed all…

AI is going to push things over the edge

Just looking at the writers strike in LA, and while they're protesting against getting ripped off from streaming revenues, there's a big issue brewing: AI. Clearly moguls want to take advantage of it. And writers would too, why wouldn't they. How's it going to impact their work hours and general value. It'll all get wonky. If a writer can now accomplish the same output they're pushing now, but in a 1/4 of time with AI – how is this going to get handled. Sadly, just like all other forms of tech that have made us more “productive”, I don't see the hours getting handed back to employees. Those that have their own business, even single sole proprietors, will stand to gain. For the workforce, I can only see layoffs as companies seek to do more with fewer, along with nothing changing but more expected and squeezed. AI, in my opinion,…
