Did I misinterpret or am I getting screwed?

Hey everyone, I have a feeling I’m getting shafted by a county job I applied to. I won’t get into the details, but, I applied to a position that advertised itself as two levels, a level 1 position and a level 2 position. The level 2 position has a lot more responsibilities and less hands on from the department, so it’s just overall tougher. The announcement also had a salary range of 33 dollars to 43 dollars. I got the job, and was offered the level 2 position. I was fully expecting to get 43 dollars an hour, but on the phone, the person who offered me the position stated my salary would be 33 dollars an hour. This makes no sense to me, because it appears that I am getting paid what a level 1 employee would be getting paid, since I’m getting the least amount advertised. This obviously…

I’m sick of companies/corporations screwing employees over.

Just today, my company decided to spring an email on us saying that hey, we've gotta start coming back into the office 3 days a week starting Monday. We've done the same exact job from home for years now, what's the change?? Also, one of our ways we interface with customers doesn't work from the damn office. Make it make sense. I'm over it.

As a career restaurateur who has developed and trained people for over 13 years in both high volume and high level dining environments, please stop ASKING for vacations, stop ASKING for time off, STOP living to WORK, START working to LIVE.

I’m saddened by the amount of people I’ve met in my life who are afraid to take time off or afraid to fight for a once in a year vacation with family. So many people put family events aside to not inconvenience work, when in reality the work is inconveniencing you from what’s truly important. Don’t miss out with time from family for too long. Of course some degree of work obligation is acceptable, but you know your quality of life better than anyone else. Spend time with your loved ones. Find a balance that satisfies you.

Just got yelled at for being away from my machine too much… FUCK YEAH

I worked in the stamping industry for 3 years due to poor circumstances and thought if I got an education I’d be in a better spot. So I get a cnc programming education for them to put me as an operator for the “experience” and I can learn how to program again in 2 years. Honestly thinking about going to college but idk if that’s any better. Oh and I make the same as I did in stamping

The greatest scam in America

Is convincing people that don’t have ownership to take on an ownership mentality. An owner of a company should be killing himself around the clock to make money— that’s the gamble he took. If you’re an employee, you’re required to do your job and you’re compensated to do your job. Stop picking up the phone when you are off, and stop responding to email as well. If you are paid hourly, this is wage theft. Most definitely, no matter who you are, stop picking up the phone or email on vacation. If you are salaried, log the time and force HR to deduct if from your time off. OH .. and take your damn vacation time.

US employers- even nonprofits- don’t care about your well-being unless it works well for them

A few months ago, I left a corporate America job and chose to go back into leftist/left-ish movement work (where I had spent a lot of time and energy in college). I got a cool job in nonprofit work, and after negotiating up from a lowball offer of about 42k in an expensive metropolitan area to a more manageable 62k + car stipend, I was living the dream. I was in a staff union of my own, and the only hurdle was a probationary period of 6 months. I've been in political and community organizing before, so I know that hours are unpredictable and it's normal to work evenings, weekends, extensive hours, all the fun. I'm fine with that with the expectation that I'm respected for doing that extra stuff. I love the work. However, I was shocked into reality by the “leadership” and callousness exhibited to employees. Between the…

Be careful how you treat employees you never know who else they know

I used to work at Jonathan Adler (home furnishings) and had a racist micro-manager. She made my life hell. Finally one day I quit after I had it. About 6 months later a friend of mine who had become vice president of a high end retailer reached out to me to ask about her. She was applying for a very good gig. Trust I was not her recommendations but my friend recognized the place and location I worked at so he reached out. I told him the truth about her and she didn’t get the job. I always wish I couldeve told her it was me that stopped her from getting hired. But at least i have this information in my heart.

Fired without cause during probation period

Hello all, I am writing this for a friend that I care deeply about. They were hired last month in a bulk school by a really big organization. My friend loved their job & was really picking up the material well, even teaching the other trainees how to do certain tasks. A few days ago they were called in by the director of their unit and was told they were terminating their relationship with the company, and they immediately got let go. I am just wondering, what could be the reason for this? They did not give any specifics at all, and just said it was a management decision, even though they were working better than the other trainees, all of whom continued in their positions. Ive asked my friend and they have no knowledge of doing any misconduct, so why would the company fire only them? It honestly sucks…
