I've struggled with holding down jobs in the past due to chronic health reasons. These were at jobs that would strike a demerit against you every time you're out sick.. some companies like Amazon have a policy of 4 points in 90 days, you're out. I did IT for a company as a contractor that considered “incidents” and approved PTO the same. They gave you 10, and if you called out it would deduct one, and if you had approved days off for vacation, family, etc whatever they would deduce those days off as well. You would have 10 in an entire year to use, and if you went over that you are fired. Lots of people who have children to pickup, or are having a child have these issues too. I think that this system is brutally unfair and should be illegal. We are not in school. Companies will…
Desktop games that look like work????
It is a chill job and everyone has a good amount of down time but I am the only employee with a screen that is visible to other people in the office. What games can I play to pass the time that look like I am doing work? Like a game that looks like an excel sheet or something along those lines? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Sorry, but I can’t find a post from the past week. Someone had talked about updating resumes using AI and keywords from job posting, and also creating a CL template and using AI to finish the letter. The last portion was about using AI or CHAT to practice interview questions. Was a fantastic post, but I can’t find it now. If you know what I’m talking about, can you send me a message, or repost the info? THanks!
It’s not necessarily a simple process of some analysis and success. It could include: Research (objectives, competitors, writing info about knowledge and data) Planning (discussing realistic approaches to try and how that could make sense for their audience) Testing approaches Reflection. Understanding why something may or may not have had the desired effect
Just need to vent- I’m so burned out
I am at home over my lunch break. I generally think going home over my lunch break is a waste of time because of the time it takes to get home and back to work, but I was so desperate to get out of there. I took a new job not too long ago and am doing so, so poorly. I’m so stressed and over worked. I feel like I’ve been set up for failure- there are so many things done poorly that I’m taking the blame for. I don’t know how to get out of this hole. Getting a new job doesn’t feel like a real option because I think I need to stay here 2-3 years so that I don’t burn bridges in my small community. I just hate it so much. My day-to-day tasks are awful and not what I want to be doing, and I feel…
Just walked off a job.
I recently signed up for part time hours through an events agency that covers music, sports and private events. I've over 17 years experience in bar/hotels/restaurants and cafes so I know my stuff, have an up to date person license for the sale of alcohol in Scotland and have overseen training for new staff. Got on site and was directed to my workstation, the south bar outside a stadium where the concert was taking place. Inquired at the sign in desk who do we report to, what are my duties ect, the basics, and was informed “the tall guy will help”. Went looking and noticed a casually dressed dude with an earpiece, asked him whats going and he tried to send me back to the sign in guy for instructions, when i explained he'd sent me he barked “just get on with it then”. Not my first rodeo “so get on…
https://imgur.com/gallery/urtJ3Qb Found this in my paperwork this morning. I understand there isn't as much call for school busses in the summer, but I still have bills to pay. (There's work around the depot, some charters, some year-round schools.) If they're not going to employ me over the summer, I'll have to take another job. Depending on pay, insurance, hours, maybe I won't want to come back. It's bad enough they expect drivers to work a split shift (5-9am, 2-6pm, not paid between). That's essentially 13 hours per day, paid for 8. And not enough time between to do another job.
employer fuck employees over
i was in an absolutely toxic job before. emotional and over demanding in every way. i got a new job nov 2020. i fucked up by asking for too little of a start salary but i just needed to get out. fast forward to today. i’ve been here for 2 years and 6 months. we just did our evaluations. last year i got 7% increase which was ass, but not awful. this year they gave me 5% after a nearly perfect review (which my boss had to fight for because they wanted everyone to increase by no more than 2%) and no back pay might i add…. which would’ve come up to 4 pay checks of extra money. they refuse. there’s no company culture, there’s nothing they do for their employees. the guy who owns the company is a complete tool. this year he decided to renovate the front offices…
