Im a specialist in a very niche field. My department was restructured with another department and the director job was open. I was given an initial interview, more of a screening interview, and was told thanks but it was super competitive bla bla bla. Now they’ve asked me to sit in on the interview committee for the three finalists. In between this nothing else has been communicated to me by anyone. No one has said hey, your input would be nice here or any of that, just an email saying they’re scheduling the interviews and to clear my calendar. They’re next week. Not sure what I’m going to do yet, but I am curious what you all have done/would do in this situation.
My job is under new management. I had submitted my vacation request prior to the change. So one month ago. I received an email from new management that they’ll approve of my time off based off of my progress for a project. I’m so perplexed, I have PTO. So what is the problem. What can I do ?
Hi all, In November I accepted an inside sales role, the company I work for has an office and a warehouse at the on-site location (this is important). Because I am the youngest in the office by about 15 years, I have been “volunteered” to do stuff in the warehouse. No big deal as they only occasionally had me help the warehouse when I first started. However, last week someone in the warehouse called in for family reasons. I was “voluntold” to fill her position because no one else is “capable due to age” to do the work. The entire week, said person was gone and I was working by myself with a 5 minute crash course of how to do her work. I do love getting up 1.5 hours earlier than usual just to sit in traffic and make $14.50. I don’t know if this shit is legal but on the bright side I get to plot a worker’s revolution as I navigate traffic on a daily basis.
Don’t get me wrong I hate work and can’t wait to quit, fuck the rat race. Not defending any corporations or corporate overlords here (or trying to say we don’t have it that bad) but whenever I see this meme it pisses me off. Seriously let’s do a ratio set. Two days is 48 hours, five days is 120 hours. That’s a work/chill ratio of 120/48. This can be simplified a lot with half division and can get us to 3.25/1.5 that’s not bad! Considering the work ratio is just under 50/50 of work and chill (exactly half would be 3.25/1.75). These posts I see label this ratio like it’s 10/1 and act upset as if it’s actually that. and I just don’t see it.
