So I work/worked for a very large, global corporation in first-level management. I've been trying to apply for different positions in the company that align with my career path. I reach out to a couple of groups and they are excited to bring me aboard and I just have to go through the mandatory interview. Through that process, my request to interview gets denied. Why? Because we are going through a reorg in the background. News to me, so I do some more reaching out. Finding out the group that has told us to fuck off for 3yrs is absorbing us, not a group I want to be a part of. I reach out to the group and find out my role would be scattered and I would be put on a project that has nothing to do with what I do or want to do. I ask to transfer…
If you expect me to be at work for 8.5 to 9 hours every day but not give me a paid lunch, I do not care enough to clock out for my 30 minute lunch break when the company I work at also gives two 15 minutes paid breaks. The amount I make in an hourly wage means that my 30 minute lunch break nets me and additional 10$ and who's to say that I can't just align my two paid breaks with my one unpaid break. If I'm at work I expect to be paid from when I walk in the door to when I walk out of the door at the end of the day. The CEO makes more than enough money for my to have a paid lunch. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Control is easy.
How should I ask for a raise?
Been working at this store almost 2 years now and I recently found out I'm the lowest paid employee. People that were hired six months ago get paid more than me. How do I ask for a raise? Do I have to ask my manager(who's a douche) or should I ask hr directly? Should I demand it? I kinda need this job cause there isn't much else in my area. Any advice is appreciated.
Becoming wealthy makes us conservative?
An article by The Guardian says millennials and Gen Z are getting more conservative with age and the sentiment in the comment section is because we aren't wealthy like they are. So that's it? You give a generation wealth and then they'll side with the owning class and want to dismantle unions, and affordable healthcare and privatize everything for short term gain? Is that where we are as a society,”I got mine, fuck the future?” https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/may/29/failure-to-appeal-to-millennials-existential-challenge-to-tory-party-sunak-warned
Your work place has an owner. Your rental apartment has an owner. Your doctor's clinic has an owner. Your car dealership has an owner. Your grocery store has an owner. Your bank has an owner. How much money are you making for the owners compared to yourself?
Answered a job listing on a public group. These 2 had no reason to open their mouths on the post but felt the need to say something anyway. This is older people everywhere.
