I caught a stomach bug this weekend and was throwing up and all that. Unfortunately due to a difficult transition to first shift and some other times I’ve been sick or late, I don’t have many more points left to get before I get fired. Now I’m feeling like complete crap at work probably getting others sick because I can’t leave. I can’t just say fuck the job either. I’m making incredible money and have a positive future staying here. We only get 2.5 sick days and 40hrs of vacation I’ve already used.
Coworker thinks I’m “disconnected”
This past week I got a complaint against me to my boss from one of my coworkers. She noticed that I'm stepping away from my desk at work and am away anywhere from 5-15 minutes on average. I am using the restroom and have been dealing with gut health issues to cause this need. The boss is now referring me to HR to get me to submit a request for accommodation in order to be able to use the restroom as needed… I just want to be able to work and use the restroom as needed. Now I'm scheduling an unnecessary doctor's visit and taking time off work, just to appease to this coworker. About done playing corporate games, I show up and work hard every single day.
All the managers in the office I work at are in their 60's and constantly shit on younger people and wonder why they themselves cant get people to work in the office. They don't understand online work or why people are demanding “more money” aka livable wages, despite working for the Department of Labor. I am a contracted employee that is allowed to use the office space (im also in the process of finding other work), soI don't technically work for the center, but I overhear a lot because its cubicle style with no real privacy besides the managers offices with doors. I want so badly to print things off from here and slide it under their doors, hoping it would wake them up a little. Has anyone done this or provided material to out of touch employers that actually stuck? It's probably a dumb idea but its disgusting hearing…
I saw this on the news last night.
Translation: We’re running out of people willing to work for subpar wages, crappy benefits and long hours. So, we’ll hire more gullible, less life experienced teenagers who don’t know better yet!
This is my first ever post here and I am not even sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes something. I want some opinions or even second opinions since I feel lost and I don't have many people I can talk with about this. So my current position at an elementary school is ending due to them not having enough budget so, I have been trying to find a new job since my job ends after this month. Luckily I have found a summer job for the month so I have some time to find something. I have tried to have opinions with my brother and he just kept telling me to go down the teacher route and get my certification. I am in this program (that doesn't pay me) where I am studying for the tests and having to be in 3hr teams…
“For those of us in the regular market… we buy homes as a necessity, oftentimes they are buying homes as a form of entertainment.” Guys… we need to Tax The Rich 🤑
Hey guys, this is a question about independent contractor work. I need an honest assessment of my situation from people who I tend to agree with about a lot of other stuff. You guys. I’m doing some small time contractor work. Like some agricultural jobs, this one pays by the piece. Not by hour. I know that legally I can make under the state minimum wage but does that count for federal too? I’m currently making half (if I consider this hourly.) I’m certified and similar jobs in my area are paying near 20 an hour but there’s a lot more work, it’s often full time and I need part time, but I just don’t like feeling like I’m paying to work, and over the last month, I’ve made less than I pay a month in bills. The company assures me I’ll be out on hourly soon, but I’ve been…
Managers trying to force workers back into the office. A king without a kingdom
HR – “just wait a few more days”
So I work/worked for a very large, global corporation in first-level management. I've been trying to apply for different positions in the company that align with my career path. I reach out to a couple of groups and they are excited to bring me aboard and I just have to go through the mandatory interview. Through that process, my request to interview gets denied. Why? Because we are going through a reorg in the background. News to me, so I do some more reaching out. Finding out the group that has told us to fuck off for 3yrs is absorbing us, not a group I want to be a part of. I reach out to the group and find out my role would be scattered and I would be put on a project that has nothing to do with what I do or want to do. I ask to transfer…
