I want to look into a guy that I worked for, I want to find out as much as I can about the guy and his business, even past employees. Long story short—I have a really really bad feeling about this guy. Something….something isn’t right. What are the first steps?

So we’re a child company. Our former President is the husband of the woman who owns our company and our parent company. So when we have department meetings over the past few years, we go to the parent company’s office and get reimbursed for the distance btw our drive to the office snd the drive to the other. So I was told in January that we weren’t getting reimbursed and forgot, because it’s only a tenner for me. But they didn’t tell anyone else. And managers got reimbursed. Unfortunately we’re not going to let that stand. So tomorrow, shit hits the fan.

For context, I applied to a job and had 3 separate interviews over the past couple of weeks. The position requires 2 years of experience in this niche, I have 1, but this never came up in the interview. Each interviewee was more excited and optimistic about my future with this company than the last and I was feeling good about being offered close to, if not more, than I was making doing the same job with a different company. Today I received their offer and not only was is less than what I was making at my previous job (doing the same job), but it’s for a lesser title. They cited lack of experience and “internal equity” as the reason for the lower offer. I countered and negations are at play. I felt a little… disappointed. I am actively looking for a new job because my boss (owner of the company) is awful (to say the least). In the meantime I want to make sure I’m not being taken advantage of. The scoop is I’m an hourly employee and help with National sales for a small company. Sometimes I have to travel and when I do I generally go over 40 hours in a week. I was ignorant of OT when I started and when the checks came in with time and half it was a pleasant surprise. Now my boss doesn’t want to pay overtime. But after doing some research I think it’s illegal for her ti not pay OT. Please help…

I used to work at a bakery that specialized in late night cookie delivery. Long story short, very toxic work environment. I had years of restaurant experience but made less than everyone with no experience because of nepotism and racism. Was constantly insulted behind my back and to my face by middle management and their friends who were my coworkers. One day I had a work meeting at my other job, the one that actually paid my bills and treated me with respect.
