Had the right side of my thyroid removed. The doctor gave me a week off work but the pain isn't too bad and I know I'll get bored at home so I might go back sooner depending on how I'm feeling. I know this is an anti work sub but just wanted to spread some positivity
This is reddit for God sake. If a business chooses blatantly to disrespect you, why choose to respect them? If we want things to get better we need to shed the fear of big corps. Now i could be absolutely wrong but as far as I'm aware, no one from reddit has been sued in a defamation case from this forum. Also to note, defamation is an extreme for a business. They actually have to prove what you said alone caused an issue with revenue and so on. 1 post on a random forum is just not enough. With that being said, shed the fear, post your business. (HCL and USAA can suck a lemon)
“Staffing Shortages” is Bull
Anybody else struggling with finding a job? I’m a college student home for the summer, and I’ve been applying to jobs for over a month and still nothing! So many businesses in my area have those passive-aggressive signs up about staffing shortages, and yet when I apply they literally never get back to me. It also doesn’t help that I don’t have a car, so I am extremely limited on where I can work. I am just SO fed up with living in a country where I need to work to afford to live but to be able to work I need access to transportation that just doesn’t exist in any practical way. And it’s not like I’m unqualified for the positions I’m applying for. How many times do I have to tell corporations I know how to use a cash register a mop floors before someone hires me? I’m…
Make it make sense
Eugene Debs was 100% right.
I figured this was the best place to post since y’all know what you’re talking about! I’ve been with this current company for about a year and a half, and throughout this time they’ve been aware that I have some chronic health issues. I actually made them aware of this at the time of my hiring just to be completely transparent, and the hiring manager (who unfortunately isn’t here anymore) told me it would be totally fine, that they would work with me, and that “if you’re sick, you’re sick.” Since February I’ve called out 5 times, two days I was sick with a severe cold or something like that (I was actually sick for about three weeks but only called out the two days because I didn’t have more sick time than that), and the other 3 days it was either calling out after feeling crappy following a procedure…
Workweek hours
Do you consider unpaid time and commute hours to a workweek hours. I know those aren’t paid but adding up all unpaid lunch hours and commute into 52 weeks add up. Sad panda
So at the moment, I have no car and I have to walk my job knows I have to catch the bus or get rides sometimes. I was carrying heavy groceries back home and ended up getting a little upper back strain a day and a half later. The day of my shift. (Friday) So I debated on going or not. My job is very strenuous. Sometimes I have to serve food and carry several plates at once and grab heavy containers from high levels etc; so I made the decision to call out as that would’ve been a bit much for me. I explained that the strain I was feeling was just from me overworking the muscle as you would with a workout and it was just strain. I was cut off by my manager on the phone while explaining and she goes “I’m not a doctor. That’s above…
