I apply for job didn’t even get interview.

last year it is easy for me to get a job. I apply for jobs but didn't get any interview. thank god I live with parents. I have unemployed since last year. The only job that I get is technical sales. I just reject the offer because the job need me travel every month. It is tough for me. definitely feeling suicidal as I have no money. I have BS chem and it is useless.

To me, higher-ups seem to be workaholics with no or no need for a personal life

I'm a Manager, and my Director is a very nice and understanding person who works an extra half hour per day, regularly, than contracted. If any of us need to work from home or take time off, that Director is very accomodating as long as we get work done. Our higher ups (and higher ups in other companies I've worked for) have been chronic workoholics, and expect others to devote as much time to our jobs outside of contractual hours. Like, it's cool if you like your job (I do like mine), but what's this obsession employers have with dominating their employees' time?

Everyone, I need some advice upon this new job.

I work for banquets at a hotel but it has been slow so I went ahead and got a new hotel job at a bistro. I have been working in the mornings with another girl who is awesome but everything is very fast paced. I am new to this and the manager (while he doesn't mention it but you can tell he wants it that way) expects you to take the order from the register-> go make a latte coffee while customer pays, go back and hand them the receipt to sign, then go heat their pastry and go to the next guest. They put me to work a night shift and the lady didn't want to split the tips with me. I called her greedy and left a few mins before my shift ends. I heard 2 people quit because of this lady, like she would refuse to split…

Big Boss Decided to Crackdown On “Good reviews” just before mine came up. everyone else in the dept had theirs already.

So the big boss decided to Crack down on what she called “generous” reviews about 2 weeks before my review came up. Everyone else in the dept had theirs. They were graded on the traditional system and all got their full 3% raises. My middle boss called me into the office at the end of the day Friday and handed me the shitty review with a big smile on his face and said “I think thars enough for the full raise.” But.. me having been burned before by the same BS.. while none of my coworkers have ever missed their full raise.. decided to call bullshit. I told him I needed to add up the numbers before I signed even though I could do the math in my head. Then I took the review and sat on it, knowing the whole time he is getting pressure from the big boss…

Anyone else have Sick Guilt ingrained as a child from their parents?

My parents always used to make me feel guilty about calling in sick from school as a teenager, going so far as to insist that the house should be spotless by the time they got back from work because 'I had the day off anyway' or to shoot dirty looks if I wasn't completely bedridden and say things like “I guess you're not too sick to play videogames, huh?” Like, no, I'm not at death's door here, but you can see I'm coughing and sneezing and running a fever and feel like garbage, and this happens to be less strenuous and more enjoyable than going to school. It always sucked to catch the insinuation that I was just faking it or playing up the symptoms to get some time off, as if rest was some forbidden fruit reserved only for the most dire emergencies, especially when the shoe was on…

Getting really sick of jobhunting lately.

I've had surgery that made my quality of life much better and has improved my health by a lot. So understandably I have a fairly decent gap in my resume because of it, the surgery alone forced me to be on bedrest for almost 2 weeks and the recovery time is still ongoing (almost a year later). I took this time to get further education and am getting my exams done next week, so I will be a bit overqualified for a lot of the jobs that I'm applying to currently. It seems like jobs in my area are either all part time, require only the education I already had or require the diploma that I am currently getting. Half of the time I get no response or just copy paste rejection e-mails. I have applied for one job that kept getting reposted for almost a month, a total of…
