Minimum wage is $13 an hour in NJ and will be $14 in 2023.
This is a long one, sorry!! TL:DR; the company I work for is claiming to donate a bunch of money to charities, but I don't trust them and am trying to figure out how to get receipts/hold them accountable. The tech company I work for has decided to “give back” this year by donating a lot of money. Basically, they claim they're taking the budget for “holiday gifts and our kick-off packages [a yearly gift box with company swag]” and donating it to charity. They had all of the C suite people pick a charity, give a little speech about it, and then we employees picked a charity and they will “donate in our name”. They do not specify how much each donation will be, and they don't specify any type of deadline for choosing a charity or timeline of when the donations will take place. I love this idea.…
This is some bullshit
I have Covid. I got sick on Monday and called out on Tuesday, went to work on Wednesday and did a home test on Wednesday night. I have been vaccinated and gotten 2 boosters so all I thought I had was a cold. Anyway I texted my boss on Wednesday night and told her. She said I need to go to employee health to get an official test done and a return to work date. Okay so I went and they charge me $40. Apparently they changed employee health to an urgent care clinic for employees and charge $40 a visit. I could have just called in today and Friday and saved $40.
Just got a raise!
My boss's boss just requested a meeting with me to tell me that they have been reviewing salaries across the board and they've decided that I deserve a raise! How exciting for me!!! I make $51,000 now. In January I'll be making $51,350. As a business analyst. With a masters degree that includes statistical training.
I’ve been applying for jobs for the past 15 months. Unemployed for over two years and I finally got an offer for my dream job. I just can’t believe it’s real. It is a perfect job and I was able to negotiate a salary above their first initial offer. I start in January and I am just so relieved and over the moon. Wanted to share some good news. I did it!
I'm not complaining and don't make waves, but why should we have to “work” 40 hours if there's only like 5 hours of actual work to be done? The loudest “workaholics” also appear to be the least efficient workers. I feel like they're protecting their job as younger people spent their lives with fast paced video games and smartphones. If I'm wrong or this is just an anecdotal experience, I apologize. I was just curious if I'm alone on this.
Landlord/AntiLandlord question
I have a question that I think this subreddit is probably most relevant to answer. It’s slightly off topic but it’s about being a landlord, more specifically Section 8. Is section 8 ethical? I know a lot of people say being a landlord in general is starting to be viewed more as unethical but I was wondering people’s general feelings about section 8 landlords.
