3 days ago was my 10 year anniversary at my job. I’m struggling to pay bills. I asked my boss for a raise today and he said that there was pretty much nothing he could do to help me out. Glad to work for employers that want to take care of me…

Thoughts on this? I’m ready to quit. I’m in Idaho so I’m guessing it’s probably legal.

Im just not gonna come in the next day if I work overtime.

I get paid hourly, but I dont get paid overtime for the times I have to stay late to close. Whether its because of a late delivery that I have to stay almost 2 hours after to close up, or the day is just too busy to start closing up at a proper time i'm just not gonna come in the next day. I brought it up to the manager and they started talking about how “its what I signed up for” and “its nobody elses job” and “its not even that much work”. So from now on I just decided that if I stayed more than 30 minutes after closing, then I will just simply take the next day off. If they wanna fire me, so be it, Im planning on going back to school anyways and I've saved up enough for it. Since its “not much work” they…

Is my job that bad, or am I overthinking things?

Hello all. Late 20s M here. Got my degree in mechanical engineering and currently work as a technical sales engineer for over 5 years. I’m not quite sure if I’m overthinking things here, or if my job isn’t all it’s made out to be. Apologies for the long post… For context, I’m a 1099 contractor, so not an official employee. I’m quite good at my job, having made well over $200K (gross) in 2022. Average income for experienced technical sales engineer at my company is roughly $400K, but there’s really no cap. I can WFH when I want and a good portion of my job is establishing and maintaining relationships with clients. To me, this is where some of the negatives come into play. The sales team is extremely toxic. I’ve seen people cry from getting yelled at by coworkers. Very much an “every man for themself” mentality. My company…

Is there any hope for student loan forgiveness?

I know it’s currently in a hearing right now, but I struggle with understanding things like this. It’s too complex for someone with an intellectual disability. My employer uses this kind of debt as a way to further exploit workers so they’ll stay instead of go somewhere better.

A poem i wrote about my thoughts on society :)

Zoochosis – a form of psychosis that develops in animals held captive in zoos. It manifests as behaviours which are monotonous, obsessive, repetitive actions that serve no purpose. Sound familiar? Perhaps similar to what many people experience every day – we are in the midst of a crisis after all. We sit comfortably behind our tvs after work, munching on the same microwave meals and frozen pizzas that we eat every evening, binge watching the same shows, doom-scrolling social media. Disassociated. An endless cycle. Repetitive. We watch the news – rent prices have increased yet again, the rates of mental illness in young people is as an all-time high, people are dying from being unable to heat their homes, nurses are using food banks. ‘What a shame’ we think. ‘At least it’s not me’. We wake up – same time every day -of course. Same breakfast. Same routine. Work 8…
