My biggest bug bear with applying for admin roles in our local Health department is that they want to know a. If I’ve ever had a workers compensation claim (fucken none of their business as far as I can ascertain) and b. they want an itemised list of all my health issues, past operations, medical diagnosies, current medications, mental health assessments and carer responsibilities just “to keep on their files just in case” which to me seems invasive, AND unnecessary. Am I taking crazy pills but I feel like I will be judged according to my health – isn’t that bordering on discriminatory? I guess I won’t be working in health anytime soon because this is NOTHING like applying for admin jobs elsewhere. Sorry about the rant.
“PeOplE wHo sTriKe ArE sElFish”
This just further justifies why I move jobs every few years. I am working for a big bank that is based near the Hudson Valley. I was a part of a smaller bank that got acquired and this new bank is just a load of shit filled with bullshit propaganda about the road to 100 Billion. What they don't say is how they short change employees and exploit us for their gain. I abhor late stage Capitalism. Recruiting Budget > Retention Budget
I am sure I am not the first to post about this phenomena. It really makes me want to work less hard, but I guess I just am not capable of coasting. I am, however, capable of taking a 15-20 minute bathroom break during my shift. Closest I can conscientiously get.
Should I keep working Closing?
I work at a Fred Meyers Fuel Center and I close, the area has a really bad crime rate and crazy people come around the store often, the guy before me told me a bunch of horror stories he has working there and it's honestly super unnerving for me, worst part is, only 1 of the 3 windows are actually bulletproof and that's the small window on the right, the big window in the front and small window on the left aren't, I'm scared one of these days I'm going to get attacked after I close or worse shot through the glass with nowhere to hide and nothing to defend myself. It honestly scares me, but this job is next to where I live, has very chill management, and the pay and hours are good. Am I just being paranoid and relax more or should I find other employment?
I’ve been unofficially “fired”
I was never told I was fired, nor told I would be taken off the schedule. My hours were just reduced at first, because we went into the slow season and everyone's hours were being reduced so I wasn't concerned that this would lead to losing my job. I also have had no problems at work whatsoever. Always on time, no write-ups, no verbal warnings, no indication of any performance issue at all. Then I just stopped being scheduled. Every time I asked about it they'd give me the same excuse – low payroll. But I knew I was the only one getting completely cut from the schedule. Everyone else was getting SOME sort of hours every week. This has gone on for 2 months and I've been looking for work elsewhere. After doing a little googling it seems that this is perfectly legal, since I was hired at-will and…
