I was informed today that my resume and cover letter were horrible. I have been working for this organization for 12 years. In addition to this I was told I was lying about all of my performance reviews being high acceptable or outstanding (I pulled all of them since I began working here at 2011, I was not lying). I was also told I didn’t show initiative and have been bad in my position. I literally write as a side hustle and got a whole ass associates and bachelors degree in three years to qualify for this position. This was all verbal, how do I go about getting this in writing? I have a union rep, but don’t want to go in she said/she said.
Essential jobs are like drs. Non essential is my bs convenience store job. People working Nightshifts is very convenient for the general public and it helps really helpfully for companies who need to boost their margins and need more productivity but dang. Working Nightshifts is not meant for humans. My body and mental stability is in constant disarray, I fell like I’ve developed many mental, social, and physical disorders from working Nightshifts. Might as well say goodbye to any friends or family cause you work all night and sleep all day. It makes me feel like my only purpose in life is the job because it becomes your only life experience, weeks pass by without a notice because it feels like your in the casino scene from the Poseidon movie. This is just horrible. I've been averaging 4 hrs of sleep per day since starting nights, which feels like torture.
My wife and I found out we’re having our first baby and she got a doctors note to be put on light duty at her job. It’s been a month and she’s gotten no response to it. She works in a psych ward with at risk youth who the courts deem unfit to be in their homes due to mental illness or criminal records. The kids can be pretty aggressive and part of the job is conflict resolution when tensions get high. She routinely has to physically restrain kids as they try to be aggressive whether it’s fighting other kids or staff. I don’t want her to get hurt and put our baby at risk. I’m pissed off that her HR department is so inept as to not process her light duty request even after a month. She’s a ball of anxiety even being on the floor knowing her kids…
Like if we all pitched in $1 we could buy 51% of reddit. Or maybe I'm crazy idk.
if all people of the world united….
I am not calling out for a revolution (am I?) BUT guess what, if all the opressed stood up and fought the system, even by being passive – by sabotaging work for a few days to show the bosses just who exactly runs their great lives – there could be changes. If every boss or manager or company owner gave up 1 percent of his profit and instead of spending it on luxuries or giving it to his useless kids or trophy wives – which you might argue would be better for them also because it would reduce their sassiness and spoiled brat mentality by 1 percent (and oh boy if we increase this percentage…) and instead divided it all to greater salaries or bonuses for his workers… that would be a win-win situation. It is absurd how after 20-25 we are never truly free until retirement, and then, when…
Low Sleep In Industrial Environments
So I work as a software developer of industrial systems. I drew the short straw this go around and have to work the 3pm to 1am shift for a deployment. I am out of town for a couple of weeks every deployment. Other teams are out there for a month. I am getting rather concerned with me and some of my coworkers. They're putting us in a high stress/low sleep situation where one wrong move would easily put you in a casket. The harp about safety but yet deprive us of the one thing that keeps us the safest, sleep. It might be worth the risk if we were paid Silicon Valley wages, but we're not.
