Too many duties in job descriptions

There are way too many job duties in many job descriptions. Even worse, many jobs have much more duties than told before signing a contract. One person can only do so much in one work day. Look at the admin roles for example. You will be barraged with emails, phone calls etc. and countless menial tasks day in day out. Add to this equation a boss who is unable to prioritize tasks. The result: you have done 99 tasks and boss comes bitching that you haven’t done the 100th one.

Not getting the pay I agreed to when accepting my job.

I was hired at a monthly salary, but after a convoluted explanation of my salary breakdown, I’m not making what I agreed to each month. Example: hired at $9000/ month, hourly breakdown is $685 less than the monthly pay I agreed to. Do I have any recourse?

burnout? something else?

I've been experiencing something new to me. In the past I've had the experience of hating showing up to a job, seems normal. By the end of the day I'd be fine, got through the day and felt ok about the work. My current job though, I look forward to going. But by the end of the day I just want to quit. Even if it was a simple day. It's like the opposite of what I've dealt with in the past. Does anyone feel this?

Thank you antiwork sub!

Because of the community in this sub I no longer allow employers to lowball or disrespect me. I have the confidence to stand up for myself and I know what to look for, red flags and green. Thank you everyone for what you post and comment. I was able to find the best job I've had so far (I'm soon to be 39). It's $16/HR for making/packaging Styrofoam. It's not strenuous and it's the most I've ever made. It's because of the empowerment I've gained from all of you. I'll never settle and become complacent. So here's to all of you

The boss and individual job make a world of difference

Hello antiworkers, I too hate working but I have finally lucked into a cushy job. I cannot give advice on how to land a cushy job as this is my very first and tbh sounded pretty bad on paper but better than my other options at the time.First and foremost, my boss is young and hip like me. Understands life happens. We don't have a time clock and she told me she doesn't really keep track of time unless it's a consistent problem with you skipping out early or coming in significantly late. You'll get your 40 hour week even if you have a 2-3 hour doctor appointment every once in a while. This is really nice because I've always been and probably always wil be an hourly worker. Second, I basically don't do anything. It's an 8 hour shift but I maybe work for like 3-5 hours max with…

My H.R. department just called me and asked me to come in on my day off for a random drug test because the guy who's doing it has a schedule conflict. My question is do I only get paid for that test or is there a minimum hour requirement Wa state USA btw

Asked not to disclose salary

I recently had a meeting with my boss asking for a raise. I work as a ft copywriter making $23/hr with no benefits. While I have a few years of experience, I've only been at this company for 10 months. During the meeting, my boss seemed super receptive and agreed with all my points and data that showed average pay for our area is substantially higher. He also asked me not to discuss my salary with any of my coworkers. That was last week. This week, I followed up and was told that I would receive a raise… at my one year mark, and they don't know how much that will be. When I asked if there was room to negotiate an earlier raise, I was told that that was never on the table and he thought I was talking about the one year raise during the initial meeting. He…
