I work for a major telecommunications company. I emailed this morning I needed to take off tommorow. With my company policy, a personal day differs from a “vacation day”. I get 40 hours of personal time per year. We got a new boss about 2 months ago. He makes fun of our accents, speaks condescending to us and continues to tell us how smart he is and how good he's been everywhere else he's worked. I didnt get a reply to the email(his preferred way of scheduling time off) He gives me the day off, (he has no option other than to do that) but then yells and tells me “this won't happen from you next year, YOU have put ME in a bind” I explained (didn't have to) I'm taking off because my power at my house is getting switched from overhead to buried, and this was scheduled by…
How about the companies put their salary ranges and we decide whether it’s good or not. I’m supposed to either lowball myself or price myself out of a chance for an interview? I hate the job market.
Rigged Survey
Had a survey at my warehouse that asked us what we wanted out of the job. Supervisor came back and said only 10% of people requested higher wages. But a bunch of people, far greater than 10%, said they put down higher wages. I guess it’s easier to tell us no to a raise if they lie about how many people wanted it.
Fair distribution?
Me and a Coworker (higher ranked) have had a decent system going on for awhile, one of us will come in late the other will leave early or vice Versa. Has been going on for awhile. The company we work for has been shafting us, with recent paycuts allowed legally through the route they took, changes in policies to avoid people leaving without paying back training costs (training is useless) and other various things such as promised payrises that never came to fruition. We have taken action through relieving ourselves of our duties earlier, without ever affecting our productivity due to the nature of work we do. Of course, we don't really care what others opinions are on it and know the risk v reward. If my higher ranking coworker is leaving a couple of hours early but I am only leaving an hour early, do you think I should…
It's not the first time they did so. We also do get half cash in hand and other we get electronically but this only happened recently. I am thinking of quiting due to the poor work environment. The restaurants in a club but we don't technically work for the club and we don't even get weekend rates just a minimum wage for the whole week.
but when they want to fire people there’s no notice, as if we don’t have homes, bills & kids
What’s the meanest thing anybody has said to you ?
I've had no conversations with this guy outside of explaining how to do something (i've been working here longer than he has), so this was pretty out of left field. I was working on cleaning the floor of the prep room (because somehow this floor gets filthy constantly) and had just sprayed down the floor with hot soapy water. As I was scrubbing the floor, i realized the cooler door was open and shut it, so i could scrub the floor right in front of the door, and where the door swings out without getting grimy water into the cooler. It wasn't even closed for more than a couple of seconds when It was shoved open as hard as he could muster, causing me to stumble as it slammed into me. I kind of just stared at him incredulously and asked “Are you serious?” To which he said “Yes, i…
My name is spelled a little unusual. No one even tries to spell me name correctly, especially my boss. Is it wrong to correct people. Honestly, it kind of pisses me off. It feel disrespectful because they would never spell a client’s name incorrectly.
