taking a personal day

I work for a major telecommunications company. I emailed this morning I needed to take off tommorow. With my company policy, a personal day differs from a “vacation day”. I get 40 hours of personal time per year. We got a new boss about 2 months ago. I work for a major telecommunications company.
I emailed this morning I needed to take off tommorow.

With my company policy, a personal day differs from a “vacation day”. I get 40 hours of personal time per year.

We got a new boss about 2 months ago. He makes fun of our accents, speaks condescending to us and continues to tell us how smart he is and how good he's been everywhere else he's worked.

I didnt get a reply to the email(his preferred way of scheduling time off)

He gives me the day off, (he has no option other than to do that) but then yells and tells me “this won't happen from you next year, YOU have put ME in a bind”

I explained (didn't have to) I'm taking off because my power at my house is getting switched from overhead to buried, and this was scheduled by the power company and I must be there to get it turned back on after new meter is placed.

He yells again and blames me for his scheduling conflicts.

I tell him to have a good day.

He's very combative to 8/10 of the guys there and even told me I needed a self help book because he didn't like the way I talked.

I've been at this company for 8 years, always had great working relationships with each previous supervisor and even assisted in past with making schedules, ordering supplies and dealing with the more prominent clients in our area.
