I’m at the last shift of a miserable job and I’m so grateful I quit and for this sub for supporting each other ! Thank you!

With this sub and what I’ve learned over the past while I’ve been on it I felt empowered to quit a bad job. The only other time I quit a job was because the employer was taking no Covid precautions at the beginning of the pandemic and was lying about other things. Back then it was a difficult choice for me and I felt guilty, but this time around I saw the red flags and after two weeks quit without remorse. At this job I had been lied to, payed poorly, and it was a private care job where the client/employer would give me a hard time about a lot of things, but the worst was he had a problem with me wearing gloves for doing things like emptying his urinals. Like he didn’t want me to wear gloves while I empty his urinals ???!! He would get upset about…

A Philly nonprofit that disciplined staffers asking for a raise has settled with the Labor Board

First time poster, long time lurker. The press has finally noticed: QUOTE: Last August, after workers asked for more money, Mack issued a verbal warning to staff, saying that not only would they not get raises but that the way they’d asked was unprofessional. In a memo to staff and board members, titled “Re: DISCIPLINARY ACTION-Verbal Warning: Workplace professionalism,” Mack wrote: “I explained that the repeated behaviors of collectively planning to disregard YUC policies and undermine the authority of the Executive Director are detrimental to a positive and productive work atmosphere and negatively impact morale and performance.”

What even are write-ups?

Honestly asking. There’s been a few jobs I’ve been hired at, where during orientation, they mention getting written up for incorrect behavior. I always have to hold in laughing because it just sounds like I’m in grade school. It feels demeaning, like I’m a child. Like, why would I give a shit if you write down that you have a complaint about me on a piece of paper? Is this “write up” going to be on my permanent record? Lol. I feel like I’m missing something. Edit: I’ve never been written up at a job, and I normally don’t work corporate. I seriously just don’t understand.

I think the interviewer took “Bait and Switch” personal

I work in IT and I'm on the job hunt, and I was interviewing for a position that seemed like a good fit for the next period of work in my life, it was a clone of the job I had left last year, that I was very successful at, and I have a good amount of experience in the field, so I got a really passionate response from the hiring director, and set up an interview. I had a technical exam, which I did well on, and then came the interview. The director set up a camera to record the interview “for the other hiring staff to review” and I agreed, and we kicked it off. Typical interview stuff, seemed like it was a great fit. I exceeded experience requirements by several years, It was a job where I could bring my existing clientbase to the job, so I…

Hopelessness after quitting my job at 30

I (30F) quit my job a month ago. I had been battling depression and anxiety since late 2020 and I did not have the proper skills to balance my life and my job. I was truly miserable. The job had its ups and downs, it was an extermely fast paced environment with very intense periods of work but the people working there were lovely and you were never alone. Sometimes I miss that very much. So at this place, I arrived like a regular worker, and I got promoted until I ended up managing a team of 13 people. I never ever imagined that I would do something like this, I have always had low self steem and for me this was a big part of my identity. I felt hopeless on weekends. I felt useless and hopeless on vacation. I was so tired and sucked in by the overload…
