I have worked for 11 months with my current employer and due to a recent interaction with my “career manager” (I work in consulting) I want to find another job. The issue is that my notice period is 3 months and I don't want to be fire immediately. I had a meeting with my manager last week because I took 4 days of sick leave after taking 2 weeks of annual leave. I was questioned in a condescending way of why I took sick leave, I don't like management at my job (noone else does neither). I do not have a job lined up and I think it would be a dealbreaker as lots of recruiters have contacted me. I have 2 years of experience but it still would be a bit of a challenge to find a job – it took a month last time to find my current…

I am one of those employees
No matter where I work, my mind will not allow me to not feel a constant and gnawing furiosity at capitalism and the general ridiculous workings of the office. I don't even abhor where I work. Sure, sitting down for 9 hours a day is killing me but I've had worse jobs with worse culture. But alas, I am just one of those people that constantly feels like it's all bullshit. They always do weird things and have weird policies trying to assert themselves and I am going to start doing it back. I truly feel boundaries are my best friend at work. The fucking MANAGERIAL TACTICS. The ridiculous, childish mind games and actions that managers do to “keep us in line.” They never involve being fucking direct. They threw a Christmas Party but refused to disclose any details. We had to all go around asking individual people when it…

As I agree with this to a certain degree, I also very much disagree considering the situation I am currently in. My bf and I have awful luck with jobs. His last job literally just stopped paying him and the boss went no contact, but due to us having no money already we couldn’t pursue legal action. My job is only part time, and so basically we are going to be evicted cause we can’t afford rent. We have a 9 month old as well. If we had money, we wouldn’t be stuck in such an awful situation. We won’t be homeless but will have to move in with his mom who only has one very tiny room that all three of us will have to share after having accumulated a whole 3 bedroom apartments worth of stuff. We will also have to rehome our cat that we’ve raised since…

Nothing to be proud of
DON’T GIVE THAT TWO WEEKS NOTICE
If you live in the US (I can't guarantee legality for other countries) (I am not a lawyer), it is NOT illegal to refuse submitting a two weeks notice. It is fully legal to walk on outta there right then. Giving two weeks is a courtesy so your boss can replace you without losing profits. If you're leaving due to their shitty behavior, why should you care about their profits? You shouldn't. Don't give them that courtesy. Let them feel the pain they caused you through their margins. They don't have to give you a two weeks notice before firing you, so don't do it for them. Also while we're here, abolish work.
