Look, in 2023, don't feel bad about quitting and leaving your coworkers in a lurch. I promise you if you were to be fired, those coworkers you care so much for will not care for you, and the few that do, the relationship will fizzle out and they wont speak to you 6 months down the line. It's how it is in corporate America these days. Once you put in your two weeks, you are now yesterday's paper. They wont worry for you. This happens whether you're in corporate america, for profit or even non-profits. And your workplace is not the exception. They are FRIENDLY while you work with them, but they are NOT YOUR FRIENDS. Go on.

If you have ever seen Apple TV's Severance, for all intents and purposes that's what I do all day. I basically sit down all day and look for number patterns. To keep my sanity, I was hoping I'd be able to bring headphones and listen to music or podcasts for 40 hours a week while I look for numbers. NOPE. My boss is like J. Jonah Jameson. He said it would distract me. (Actually, the OPPOSITE is true, duh.) I am only permitted to go to the restroom and eat for 30 minutes. Never gives anyone compliments because he thinks it would increase our leverage. Never listens, not interested in anyone's ideas or other skillsets, just talks to us like slaves. I am being paid peanuts, by the way…. https://preview.redd.it/nltw11pelmia1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=61b1edc17e52ce4ef71ada1471e1454e38263a55
How stupid do they think I am?
Training an employe who makes more
We have a new employee where I work. He started out making more because of his work experience. I’m perfectly okay with this, it makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is that he doesn’t have anymore responsibility than I do but makes more. On top of this I had to show him the work I do today so he had something to do… so he’s going to do my job and make more doing it while I make less. I don’t even know what to say to my manager other than give me money or I’m outie 5000. Help me. Also I want to note I understand this isn’t his fault in the slightest this is a problem between myself and management.
How likely is it that I will die at 65?
Im young and earning well. I am saving for retirement but tbh you can only save so much. What if I live to 95? I can't possibly save enough money to stop working at 65 and live off it till 95, not to mention inflation. I want to die at 65-70. So that I don't have to save so much money. What are the chances?
Not only did he call employees lazy, he tells us “it’s time to get out of our basements”?? How many of us can even afford to have a basement at this point??
