This is what a strong union can do

Where I work the majority of the workers belong to a union. My co-worker recently had a life change and was driving a total of 3 hours to work and home everyday. She found, interviewed, and accepted the same position in another division that was much closer to where she lived. Well the division the myself and her work at, were short staffed. She stayed on for over 3 months making that commute. She didn't know when she would start in the division that was closer to her. We all encouraged her to talk to our union rep, stating she should at least get a company car to make that commute. Well she finally did. It was spectacular. They had a meeting with her, the union rep, her supervisor, and HR. The result of the meeting is this-she's starting at different division within 7 days. The company is cutting her…

My boss cried in her car after I quit

TL; DR – My boss sent a manipulative email to me and my recruiter, so I quit on the spot. I have a new job that I'll be starting in a couple weeks anyway so at least I don't have to deal with giving a two-week notice. Once I quit, my boss cried in her car. I don't think she expected me to quit on the spot because she already lost my replacement, who quit on her after 3 weeks. Hey y'all, Just wanted to vent if that's OK. This subreddit really helped me realize professional boundaries and helped me with job searching employers who will compensate me well and aren't toxic. I've been temping for the past 73 days for a a client company with a less than stellar reputation within property management. The company president is almost always absent in the office and has a sink-or-swim style of…

I actually want to get a job

I have put off getting a job for a long time, but I can’t do it anymore. I am miserable unemployed. I have no purpose and get up everyday at 3pm. I’m really scared to work, I think that’s what it comes down to. And it turns into what seems like hatred for working, but that’s not true. There’s been times where I have been very happy at my jobs in the past. I just feel like such a loser and every time I look for a job I say to myself that I can’t do it or it won’t be fun. I know there’s a lot of shitty work environments but there’s also some good ones. My ideal work is to be my own boss and find a way to make my own money, but I have zero initiative so that hasn’t really worked out. I fall into a…

mandatory work training while wfh

I love when my job assigns me mandatory work trainings when I'm WFH. I turn on autoplay, go to the pool then come back and answer all the super obvious common sense answers for 100%. I don't think there's ever been a single training where I've needed to listen to a even a single second of the information to pass the quizzes at the end. I do get annoyed when they tell us to do the trainings on our own time though when they are “required” for employment.

Remote work newbie

I have been offered a job for a remote work position with a graphics designer in a different state. She is on LinkedIn, I believe the company is legit, and I have found nothing online to indicate it is not real. This is my first remote position, and I am wondering if there is anything I need to be concerned about. I don't want to get scammed or give any information I shouldn't, but also would like the job as it pays pretty well. Any advice appreciated.
