Mandatory Pay Cuts

As the title suggests, the mortgage company I am working for has forced mandatory pay cuts of 10% throughout the company until the 1st quarter of 2023. They have said this is to prevent anymore layoffs within the company. The CEO says this is due to the current mortgage industry and housing markets. They are also claiming that all employees including hourly, salary, and managerial staff will be taking the pay cut. I’m currently making $16.50/hr and have been struggling even more to pay my rent and other bills on time and in full. I guess my question and the reason I am making this post is because I’m wondering if this is common practice? Has anyone else heard of this happening at their company or another?

April Stick

I've been looking but it seems all posts for the antiwork strike in April have been removed. Does anyone know if this movement has been canceled?

Third-Round Job Interview Wasted My Time

A few weeks back I posted about a job title changing suddenly right before my third-round interview – the recruiter assured me I should go ahead with my interview, and then the process was totally bizarre and honestly, pretty unprofessional. I sent this interview basically screaming into the void. I'm sure I didn't get the job and nothing will come of this email, and that's okay, but I don't like how they yanked me around and asked some borderline illegal questions. I wanted this documented so at the very least I could make HR (CCed) a little nervous. https://preview.redd.it/j1s3s8xy1mia1.png?width=886&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=77c222055b20a3f68f0f4e35fb5ffdb8dbdd41e5

People who WFH. Be honest. How many hours do you actually work?

Are you Salary or Hourly? For me it depends, but on an average day (like today), I'd say I'm actually working or looking at work related things on my screen about 6 hours a day. I'm online from 7:30-3:30, only taking 15 to eat lunch. First 45 mins of my day, I am looking at emails, but mostly having breakfast with the wife. Rest of the day I do my daily tasks, but there are slow periods where I am on my phone, going outside for some air, checking my plants, or on reddit. I probably take 10 minutes every hour or so to do one of these things. Yet somehow, I feel like I am way more productive than I would be at an Office. In my last job, my colleagues and I would get up every 45 minutes to get water or literally do anything than to sit…

What’s the easiest job you ever had to do?

I work as a security guard and my post is easy as fuck. I work at a utilities site and my orders are to check for locked doors. The task take me 10 minutes to do and when I am done I just go back to my shack and wait for 2 hours until I have to patrol again. Every now and then I will open the gate to let a worker vehicle in but that's about it. I usually use my phone or play on my gaming handhelds in between patrols. In a full 8 hour day I probably only do 30 minuites of real actual work. I am also looking for a new job that pays a better wage and hopefully the same amount of work load. What's the easiest job you had to do?

Thoughts about quitting current job during the interview process?

A few months ago, I was at my company's annual conference. I am a female and work in a predominantly male-dominated industry. At this particular conference, two male colleagues sexually harassed me, one attempted to follow me around the hotel/up to my room/tried to get me to leave the hotel with him, and the other called me hot in front of my boss (who stood there and did nothing). After this happened, I reported the issues to my boss. He ended up blaming me and said the guy following me around must have been doing it out of chivalry because I must have been drunk (I wasn't) and the other guy was just paying me a compliment and I was rude for not accepting it. Boss made me sit down with another employee (totally unrelated to the incident) after the conference and reamed me out for being too sensitive and…

I am so fucking angry at how many jobs I’ve applied to, followed up with regarding my applications, receive ZERO replies from, and all I get is scam emails from Indian people for false job offers.

They call me incessantly. They crowd my email and I block every fucking one of them, but they just. Keep. Coming. I'm so tired of this capitalist horse shit. And all the BS about “employers LOVE to hire military veterans.” My ASS, bro. I wish I was a lizard. You know what my daily requirements would be? Bake on hot rock. Lick eyeball. Eat bug.

Stuck in my dead end job, can’t even leave to the military.

I’m currently a father of multiple children. I’ve been working in transportation for the past couple years. I attempted to this year enlist into the military only to have a nurse who saw me for 30 minutes in 2018 and a doctor see me for 5; ruin my chances at ever being able to serve my country and get a better way of life than I currently have or can have where I live. I’m at a point where the only thing that keeps me going are my children. I wish there was something I could do. I’ll never be able to own a home or go to college. I feel defeated and don’t even want to seek mental health support as that is what landed me in this mess.
