I don't think I've ever seen this talked about. There are a lot of great efforts to get kids interested in STEM. That isn't bad, but the real reason companies care about this is not because they care about people getting into good paying jobs. It's because they are tired of paying so much for capable employees. A lot of people should learn STEM skills even if it's not to be in a STEM field. I'm not discouraging STEM. We should continue to promote it and it's good that corporations are encouraging it. But their motivations aren't because they want you to make a lot of money in a STEM field.

Yesterday, Wednesday, my boss tells us she’s gonna be out of town this weekend (Friday-Sun) and someone needs to volunteer to work over the weekend. So my husband works, i don't due to medical conditions associated with pregnancy. So this is my frustrations with his job. We're planning on leaving the state Friday/Saturday and he's supposed to have off for Presidents day so we're taking a three day trip to my great grandparents house for the weekend. Well he calls me and tells me TODAY that his work is considering dropping mandatory overtime on him on Saturday. I told him i didn't give a shit about what his work wants because dropping this a day or two before Saturday is not okay. The first time it happened we had no plans but i was still annoyed. But now we have actual plans and they are trying to disrupt it because obviously they matter more than what their employees lives entail. My micromanager boss has been giving me a very unbalanced workload and tries to always shift the blame on me. After working for over two years at the job remotely, she threatened me with a PIP last month. I’ve never missed a deadline or submission. And I’ve never had this issue with any other job before. For anyone who doesn’t know, a PIP is basically “quiet firing.” Management doesn’t like you so they want you out the door with documents so they don’t have to pay unemployment. I was already browsing jobs in winter break but I cranked up my efforts. Our dept provides essential admin support services but does not pay competitively with the market in the same field. Hello I am one month into a job that was not the right fit for me. I have already received an offer for a different job. Is there any point in giving a two week notice as a new worker? Should I write a resignation letter, text…etc. The current job is in a field I never want to work in again. Edit: I am consider a floater so I work at two locations so I'll have to tell two places.
