I was unofficially promoted and am being strung along about ever getting the official promotion. I don't have the salary but I do everything in the job description. Now since I'm one of the “leads” my manager has told me I'm in charge of buying presents for my coworkers' birthday. With my own money. Plus I'm supposed to ask my coworkers if they want just a card, cupcakes, or food for the entire office on my dime. I'm not spending a single red cent of my own until I get a salary raise. I shouldn't even have to then, but that's the least they could do…? Do they actually think I'm going to do this when they won't even give me a cost of living raise and I've taken on all this additional work, WTF.

so i left my teaching job back in september 2022, took a brief mental health break ( much much needed ) and after 100+ job applications I ended up at a small local restaurant 1/2 mile from my house by the beginning of december. I have worked every W-F since then without a change AND I am the only daytime host that they have. This past week I wasn’t scheduled at all for an unknown reason. I checked the schedule online and the same usual small crew was scheduled except me. Plus the owner posts the schedules at random times and often super late the night before the opening day of the week. We are only open Wednesday – Sunday. So now I sit here , tuesday night at 10:50pm and the schedule still isn’t posted. I’m frustrated since I have no idea if I work tomorrow, and financially I…

I went to a restaurant downtown today. It was pretty dead. I asked the waiter why it was so dead on Valentine’s Day? It’s a fancy restaurant. He said that customers are reserving multiple restaurants at once and then go to whichever one they feel like that day. What better way to impress your Valentine’s Day date then to give them the pick of many fancy restaurants? Not only does this really screw over the waiters but also other customers who can’t reserve tables online because they are already taken in the system.
