I was interviewed for a management position at my current place of employment. I’ve worked for this company a few years. I’m more than qualified for the position, and they said they wanted me to start training. I’ve never missed a shift, and I’ve never been late due to transportation. I use Uber, it’s very reliable because I live in a large city. Denied at the end of the last interview because I don’t have a license. This company doesn’t offer delivery or anything like that. I don’t understand. I’m so disappointed.

Context. I work as an emissions tester/carwash operator the owners won't give me more then 18 hrs a week.we have two employees including myself So I had a meeting with the owners of the businesses today where I told them that I was getting a second job and I'd in fact already been offered a position somewhere. The purpose of the meeting was to figure out the new schedule we got the new schedule figured out but like halfway through the meeting one of the owners pipes up with “Op were really sorry you and your wife are in a bad financial situation but that's just how the world is and you have to deal with it” And I stop him mid sentence and say “It's not that we're in a bad financial situation it's that when we started renting our place it was 800 a month now it's 1600…

Just got laid off from Amazon. I work in tech, made 300k/yr and couldn’t care less about the strife that the delivery drivers go through. However, I am absolutely DEVASTATED that I just lost my job. I mean sure, I have enough in savings to keep me afloat for probably a good 3-5 years without working at all, but I mean sheesh! What will fund my ski trip with the boys this winter!? Anyways, this circumstance I’ve arrived at has me thinking I am anti work now. I mean, how could they! I know I didn’t really do much and just blew off most of my time in the gourmet cafeteria that they offer the tech workers but like- they really worked my but off just to fire me! I would love clarification on this. I have audio recordings between a boss and I, that I might use in an escalated situation where I need to disprove their claims. I read that it is illegal, EXCEPT when one party consents. Could that one party be me? Is that enough for it to be legal in New York? It was just us two in the audio. Thank you.

During my time with JPMorgan, we would work a half day Saturday, Sunday off, then a weekday off. 40 hours/week. This position (Associate Banker) was a combination of being a greeter, a teller, an account maintenance person, a notary, an ATM custodian, and an account manager. There was much to learn, memorize, and perfect to make sure we were in compliance as an employee of Chase. However, the amount of work done did not reflect on the $17.85/hr pay, especially when you discovered later you were the least paid employee (different story). I value my free time, as much as any other person does. Not getting a full weekend was off putting and getting out 30-40 minutes late consistently due to a single individual was not okay. Our company hired this firm to consult on “business optimizing” which I researched their track record and they have a horrific history of bad decisions and bullshit. Has anyone else been exposed to McKinsey & Company and if so what was your experience so we can try and stay informed on what their game is. Thank you and Solidarity to all!
