I’m so over my company. I literally am physically sick from the stress there. I was also sexually harassed which has made things worse. I’ve been let go before and was able to get unemployment. I heard if you get fired you don’t qualify. Can I get more insight on how I can get out of my situation and go on unemployment so I can have time to decompress before looking for another job? Also any ideas of how to be let go but still leave on an ok note without burning bridges? I was let go once for financial reasons. So I’ve gone thru that before. Never been fired though.
I started my new job last week and I really over looked some red flags to start. Anyways the manager and person I worked with both got covid in my second week. I went to work wed really felling bad so I took a covid test at work and it turned up positive. The receptionist said it’s ok we all have been feeling kinda in the weather lately.I have high perseverance so I just went back and started my shift. Then let’s say the “lead man” came in and tested positive as well. This is a pretty busy business with people coming in/out regularly. By 12 o’clock I felt like I was going to pass out(this job is labor intense as is) so I asked “lead man” if he could find someone to finish my shift he said ok. He came back about an hr later and said the manager(that…
A guy I know bought a DP Dough franchise but had never run a restaurant before and only had one guy working for him, so he offered me a job. No disrespect to short-order cooks, just explaining how little he was offering. I took the job because I wanted him to be successful and make his money doing something good – instead of selling hookah, like his other two businesses. I understood that what he was paying me was dog shit and came with no benefits, but the expectation was (because we talked about it) that he would make things right money-wise when he could afford to pay the market rate. The store he took over was run into the…
Them damn kids and their games
Was talking to an older gentleman today about one of his sons, Son does not want to be a boilermaker and is doing a different job that gets him by. Son does not like going to work for weeks on end and living in a camp. He was upset that his gaming was taking priority over other aspects of his life and I told him, How many people come home from work and just turn into a zombie in front of the TV, crack a beer and just pretty much zone out absorbing information the brain will delete when they fall asleep… At least gaming hes engaged and using his brain I said. He kinda petered off and changed the subject when he didn't really have a response to that. Driving home later it hit me, Do you know why younger generations prioritizes gaming and entertainment over pursuit of work…
