Is the government stealing from us?
So I got a jump on my tax return this year and I found out that if you add a second w-2 they deduct it from your tax return. This is exactly what happened, i put in my first w-2 and at the end turbotax said my return would be $999 for the federal tax return. Cool that's normal I didn't even make 20,000 last year so that puts me in a super low tax bracket and also I claim 0 on my taxes. Now I double and triple check ALL of my information when doing paperwork and after doing this and submitting my second w-2 my federal tax return dropped to about $120. I thought I had made a mistake so I had turbotax take 29 dollars out of my already small tax return and started getting to work with one of their people to figure out what happened…
This salary range is laughable
It used to be that if you worked an 8 hour shift, you were entitled to one 30 minute paid break and two 15 minute unpaid breaks. Not anymore! The official DOL website says that no break laws exist in the state. Good thing I’m stuck here
Burnout or Late-stage Capitalism Grief?
I'm so disillusioned with working that I can't tell if I'm burned out or grieving life under this late-stage capitalist hellscape (USA). I'm 35 with two kids and have been working full-time for 13 years. At the end of my working day I'm so exhausted and emotionally drained I can barely scrape together enough energy to take care of my kids. If I didn't have kids, I would seriously consider self-admitting to a mental health facility for a week or two, just to recoup. How do I survive another 30+ years of this?!
( help us)
Well, for a start, if there’s anything good about this institution is that you learn how not to work cooperatively. They sell themselves as a place who values their teachers and crew members, always talking about team work, how we should communicate, etc. As we learn through life, most of these things are bullshit, they couldn’t care less about how you feel. It’s easy for me to sit down and talk about the things me and my co-workers went through there, that’s why I decided to highlight some of the things that have happened to us. 1- They don’t sign contracts with teacher assistants, they are forced to work crazy hours. Also they don’t have a steady schedule, sometimes they need to paint the walls, clean toys or just arrange the books in the library, even though it has nothing to do with their position. 2- teachers are forced to…
