Corporate Temp work bites

Working at a job position for almost 9 months. Was promised the job position would become permanent at some point. (Should have seen this red flag earlier.) Just learned that the position is being distributed among other employees and I’m being let go next week. 🤬 FU big corporations!

Remote Mornings = Bad Perception?

I’m an engineer that lives in a very congested metropolitan area with an interesting situation that I’d like Reddit’s take on. I’ve been at my company for 7 months and we are on the M-W on-site and Th-F working from home hybrid schedule. I got into the M-W routine of starting at home in the morning and driving down a little before lunch at 11 AM to avoid morning traffic and cut my commute in half from 50 minutes to 22 minutes. This worked really well for a few weeks and I was always responsive and reachable. My manager told me during a 1:1 that this schedule was problematic for perception reasons. He said that despite me getting all my work done, communicating well, and having a positive attitude, my growth at the company would be limited if I was not seen at my desk more often in the mornings.…

Did you give any employees a 60¢ raise for their Above Average reviews last year? Great! Let’s renovate!

It's awesome now that all of those hard working and loyal employees have moved on.

The cruelty is the point

Nothing speaks to the crap environment we are sitting in like a CEO sending out an email saying layoffs are coming, if you're impacted you'll get a meeting invite in the next hour. What kind of sadist do you have to be to keep your entire work force stressed out like that?

I gave work my 2 week notice today.

I’ve been traveling 45 minutes to and from work for $17.25 an hour. It just wasn’t worth it. And when I have to work full time, it makes job hunting harder.

Well corporate rich people stole again.

So I bartend at a place at we get what is called a “shift pay” which is 100 dollars just for being there. Well that has apparently gone out the window and now we are going to be making 2.25 an hour. And since I am not technically an employee I don’t get the safety net of covering to the 7.25 if the hours and pay don’t equal out. YAY! What’s a super slap in the face is the new GM and one of the three owners looked me dead in the face and told me “we are easing the price of stuff on the customer so we don’t decrease the amount we are paying you. And that was only a month ago… wanting to charge 6 dollars for a bottle water and shit. It’s fucking theft and now I am the one being stolen from for what? So they…

No more leaning

I work at a hospital as a room service associate. Meaning I deliver food to patients. We aren't allowed to sit while we wait for trays nor are we allowed to “stand around” meaning we have to constantly be finding something to do. This is fine. Recently, our boss has added a new rule “no leaning on the counters” doesnt matter if we walk for 8+ hours (some working 12+) we aren't allowed to lean. I feel this is a bit much? Sorry if this doesn't fit, first time posting.

I feel so trapped.

I work in Customer Success and I've been in this new company for about 4 months, the thing is I really dislike it. I'm fed up of dealing with people and their demanding attitude. I've worked with the public for the last 8 years and it's just hit me with this job now, I'm no longer able for it. I have a heavy workload and I'm constantly stressed. Wage isn't that good, 32k Euro. I'm saving nothing. My worry is it may look bad leaving a Job after 4 months. People I work with are nice, but boring. I'm based in the office and it just crushes my soul. I feel numb.
