Not allowed to talk
My manager is super nice. Super nice. But also……it's a lot. She needs constant attention. CONSTANT. She finds herself to be so fascinating. She will spend so long telling everyone the most mundane of things. Her regular Tuesday night. The breath she took. The breath her husband took after she took a breath. She will narrate every single moment of the day that she can and make sure to announce any quirky mistake or mishap if no one was around to witness. All this could be chalked up to a personality quirk but the thing is, I'm starting to realize she is very socially controlling. I've been there a few months and other employees are reaffirming what I've picked up on. She will not let any of us talk to eachother but it's much more prominent toward us women. There are a handful of us who work in the offices.…
I was in a local chain fish fry a couple days ago. There’s about 7 or 8 of them in the area. Food’s good, so I go semi regularly. Overheard a few employees talking about it. I asked if I heard them right. Yup. I asked if that was a collective employees’ decision. Nope. “Management told us that’s what they’re doing.” So credit card tips and tip jar tips are being taken and given away, without asking them. I told them that’s the gift that keeps on giving. Wage theft and the company will donate that money and get publicity and a tax write off; employees won’t get any compensation for it, and management isn’t giving up any of their pay. Even though they’re not waitstaff/bartenders and making the tips those people are, it’s still money. It’s still income. I always threw a few bucks in the tip jar. Not…
Update from yesterday. I work in NY
Take a rest.
Only my employees profit.
I work for a relatively major hospital. I got put on “paid administrative leave” until the 4th. Want me to file paperwork about a situation. But what paperwork? My manager is telling me one set of paperwork, HR is telling a different story, and the people who handle the FMLA and restriction/accommodation paperwork had no idea I was being told to fill this out.
Feeling anxious about calling off work?
I am currently home for Christmas break, which I requested off for. But now my car is having issues, and won’t be out of the shop till late next week. So now I have to call off next week, but on top of that, they scheduled me on a day I told them I cannot work. I get really bad anxiety about calling off because I feel as if they will lash out on me, but I can’t help that I have no transportation to work. How should I go about telling them without pissing them off? I work in the restaurant industry, which makes it even worse.
