I live and work in Japan. I'm currently on my end-of-year vacation. I go back to work on January 10. My employer expects me to phone in two business days before going back to work to prove I'm in the country (which I am) despite me still being on my contractually guaranteed vacation. Considering January 9 is a national holiday in Japan, they want me to phone in on January 6, a full four days before my first day back at work. I don't care if all I'm doing on January 6 is sitting at home in my underwear watching netflix, I'm not phoning in. I'm still on vacation, bitch. It's none of your busines where I am until 8:30 a.m. on January 10.

Here is the opening paragraph of his manifesto “Industrial Society and Its Future” by T. Kaczynski. I tend to think he has some great points. I worked Thanksgiving, black Friday, Christmas Eve, I'm supposed to come in today and tomorrow as well. I found out I don't get holiday pay So I'll come in late today and probably not at all tomorrow. What is the incentive? Why would I sacrifice my time with my family to come in and deal with customers for pocket change and no bonus? We shouldn't even be open. I was supposed to get my check yesterday but they “don't have it yet.” SET UP DIRECT DEPOSIT ALREADY. Or HAVE the checks on time!!!!! These mfers have me up 2 hours before the sun rises on a holiday, keep me there until the sun goes down, and I couldn't even afford Christmas gifts this year while living in my parent's house? Why do I even have a job?
