there have been bed bugs found in our office & we even saw a whole section of the office with employees personal items in trash bags. it’s been confirmed by the employees that work in said department that bed bugs were found & the area has been “treated”. the only thing is that my coworkers & i feel uncomfortable going back into the office knowing they only treated the area the bed bugs were originally found in & haven’t treated any other part of the building. management hasn’t said anything & when team leads got word of it, their exact responses were “it happens all the time here. at least they treated the area.” WHAT & i guarantee the company would not be paying for treatment if any of us brought them home. should i report this to HR? the health department? i don’t know what to do but i…
Recently started a new full time position around March. Initially, I was told the position would be an 18-month contract, during those 18 months I would not be subjected to receiving benefits to which I agreed. This is where it gets complicated, I have a medical condition that requires me to buy the necessary and very expensive medication to stop/lessen the effects and or outbreaks that i experience from time to time. This medication is extremely expensive and has cost me thousands of dollars. Initially, i told my employer about my diagnosis and they said and PROMISED that once they find another person to fill a missing position in my team – that I would end up having a permanent position in my company and that I would no longer be under contract; hence I would receive benefits that can help with the financial load of my medication. However, yesterday…
It’s The Personal Touch
Got this after submitting an application last week. Couldn't even put my name in.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Board of Directors for United Furniture Industries (UFI) has announced the decision to terminate the employment of all its employees effective Nov. 21. WXII 12 News received a copy of two letters sent from the company. The first one was sent at 11:49 p.m. Monday and said: “We ask that all employees not report to their work locations tomorrow November 22, 2022.”
This was the garbage reason I was given as to why I wasn’t allowed to work from my partner’s home 1 hour away. My designated days in the office were Monday and then the following Thursday, so I thought it was perfectly reasonable to plan events without taking off or asking permission. I brought it up casually to my coworker that I was going to drive to my bf’s city after work and work from his home office. Long story short I was told on and reprimanded and given that reason. They fully expect to see my bedroom back drop every zoom call or else I’d be questioned. If I changed my location again they would “check my IP address”. When asked why this was the case, they said what if they need me to go in to the office in the case of an emergency…first off, I’m 2 hours…
Good afternoon, everyone! My post title is self-explanatory. How is one expected to quit their job and continue to raise a family, afford food, and overall just survive while still having the luxuries that a salary can afford? I expect the most obvious answer is to just stack yourself onto every government assistance program you can, but then you're just sponging instead of actually making a real change for society as a whole and also living a pretty limited and boring life. Who would be our doctors, police officers, linemen, etc? Are we to just move into the woods and live a life of primitive self-dependence just banging rocks together to make a life sustaining fire and fishing with string made from plants? This is an honest question and I'm curious as to what you guys all think as I can literally not understand how it would be possible without…
