So I worked for about a week at a factory in Texas, I ended up hating it and quit, I never received a pay check for the one week I did work. I didn’t really care but now times are tough and I could really use that money. This was about a year ago that I worked there, so I’m worried they lost track of me being an employee there for such a short time Is there anyway I can still receive this? “Unskilled labor” jobs don’t pay enough
I'm 25 and have been mostly unemployed since march 2020. I've done one IT contract since then that lasted a week. The minimum wage in my state is 7.25. There is no way I'm working for less than 15 an hour. Any less then that and its a starvation wage. Most of the available jobs pay around 9$ an hour. Any job in retail? expect to be in poverty. Why would I work just to stay in poverty? A job should lift you out of poverty, not keep you in it. Sometimes I feel bad, and embarrassed, because I don't have a job. I feel like I'm not worth love or friendship because I'm jobless or “useless”. This view from society that seems to link worth to income has grown inside me to help develop insecurity. Just an idea for you guys, I work doing junk removal so you do have to be strong and stuff. But if you want a job where you get exercise and if the managers allow you to get stuff from the jobs, then you can resell shit all day at flea markets, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace etc. I’m just one week I’ve found nice stuff and with tips and a decent wage, you can make a decent living if you sell stuff here and there. Just an idea of a interesting job with hidden benefits and also you can donate nice stuff and get tax write offs as well

This is my first post on Reddit and I think this may be the right place. Employees are wanting to boycott and strike due to obvious reasons in the current struggle of labor equality. As a collective conscience of customers, can we stop going to places of economy on holidays, inclement weather, etc. to at least do our part for those employed in the market.
