How lucky corporations don’t have to to let us have a day off because Christmas fell on Sunday. My boss was grinning ear to ear

Bit of a click bait title tbh, since she doesn't expect me to respond. But Jesus Christ (lol) take a fuckin break. My boss has a family, two kids, but somehow is working on Christmas?? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here. We don't get overtime, just our salaries. There's nothing in this for them. I'm not a huge Christmas fanatic or anything but if there's a day put aside by society for family and fun why would you not take it? This is the kind of shit that makes me think our species is totally fucked. How many people are going to be on their deathbed thinking about all of the vacations they voluntarily wasted on fucking MORE WORK?

Why is so much open today?
It's absolutely gross. I remember when I was a kid. Literally everything was closed. Outside was like after a plague hit, barely anyone around. Now it's insane, driving to a friend's and every gas station, liquor store, most coffee shops and a bunch of restaurants were open. They can't even give their people a single day off. I get that some people dont care for Xmas or hate being alone and would rather work. But I highly doubt every single person working today wanted to.

How'd I do it? Two friends of mine, legit business owners, gave me references (3 years each) and work certificates signed by their hands, so that I could have a proper resume. The business I work for did a thorough background check, and since the references are legit, as well as the business owners who confirmed that I “worked for them”, it ended up working perfectly well. The job is ok, the managers like me, I'm doing fine. If I hadn't done that, I'd never have been able to get a job, because you're not…
