What do you do now? I have a bachelors degree in nursing. After practicing for a little while I decided that patient care is not for me, and I will not subject myself to the abuse that healthcare workers face everyday. What do I do now? I have a nice job in retail where I can get my shit done and go home. I don’t have any student loans, I live within my means, and money is not a motivator to me. My family was furious when I told them about the decision I had made. They didn’t understand. When I explained how much nursing had impacted my mental health, I was told “that’s life”. Basically the title. I have a surgery coming soon and I will be out 5-6 weeks. I don’t qualify for FMLA bc there isn’t enough employees within a certain radius. My boss basically didn’t guarantee my job upon return. Even when I tried to get any guarantees out of him. It was just, “We should have a spot for you. Let’s see how the next couple weeks go”. At this point, I’m anxiety ridden. I didn’t choose this and have been a model employee for years. I pushed this off until we slowed down for the year. I’m feeling especially betrayed for doing that now. Any advice?

Noticed today at the great unwrapping that the Lego sets didn’t have bar codes. I got told that the issue is people take cheaper sets, take the bar codes off, attach to a more expensive set, self scan Profit Allegedly Walmart across Christmas cut off all the bar codes on Lego sets to stop this. It makes the buyer get a price check. But I can see this working at a ton of places. And I’m amused that manglement goes “Yes, lets cut this $15 / hour cashier job to save money” and some person goes “Sure get this Millennium Falcon set that retails for $850 for $45”. For those of you in retail, is bar code spoofing a big thing?

Hi, mi brother worked on a restaurant and when it was payday the gave him checks that either had no balance or didn’t work at all,this happened really often,then he quited after a lot of this crap,but they are owing him one check that he tried cashing 2 times and both times it had no balance and a check that they are not giving him,is there anything he can do?.

I’m working a double today due to my job being an essential position. Loads of people called in sick so I took the overtime that was offered to me last minute. It’s Christmas so I’m automatically being paid double time and a half, BUT we have a union clause that states that any last minute overtime worked requires the pay to be doubled. So I’m actually being paid x4 to be here today. The hospital is empty, there’s absolutely nothing going on here today. I’m currently just chilling in an empty waiting room and watching a Christmas movie that’s on… This is awesome. I love my union.
