i work for a large corporation in fast food, and our general manager has made it very clear he cares way more about the business than his employees. we’ve already seen that he’s not afraid to fire someone for being sick, and now i’m next on the chopping block because i’ve been sick three times in the past two months. this time is the worst yet, i have the flu and i’m practically bedridden. he still wanted me to come in yesterday with record low temps and horrible road conditions, and yet still decided to stay open when half the staff had already called off before we were to open. once it was made very clear that i was extremely sick (on the verge of passing out, entire body feeling like i got hit by a truck) he told me to leave but that one more time and he has…

Baby boomers: I’ve decided that working with our technologies is important to our organization. Me after learning how neglected their digital resources are: (this should have been discussed about 10 years ago) Baby boomers: We have someone working on our website. Me: (I don’t even think they know about Google ads, content, or how colors effect emotions)
We live in the wealthiest country on earth, as far as I know.

This is a fairly old story so there’s not much I can do about it now, but I saw a similar one in this subreddit and wanted to share my own. I’m typing this out fairly quickly on mobile, so sorry about any possible errors! I used to work at a waterfront resort that fancied itself a very nice place to stay. It’s really not, and I might post more about it in the future because OH BOY they were probably the worst place I’ve ever been employed by. The resort is very spread out, consisting of several large main buildings that more closely resemble a standard hotel, but they also had lots of other options including cabin rentals and waterfront cottages. I was housekeeping, and cleaned all of them depending on the day. This can end up being a lot of walking, and our “cleaning carts” were basically glorified…
A while ago i was sitting in a lil bench area by my work, taking a smoke break. It was dark out and this area is the best lit by my building, so even tho we're not really supposed to smoke there, i prefer to for safety. I noticed someone walking across the parking lot and saw it was one of the security guards so I was worried i might be in trouble. The guard didn't acknowledge me and took a picture of a barcode they have to use to check in. He then turned around and, with flash, took a photo of me. At this point i was convinced i was in trouble, so i asked why he took a picture of me expecting to either get chewed out for smoking or have him ask for my work badge. He didn't seem startled by my presence, but awkwardly shoved…
I am staff for a small education local. No bonus, but I am on winter break from 12/22 – 1/2. Not using my vacation or personal days. It’s literally in my contract. (Yes, I also have excellent PTO and sick time). Happy holidays to my fellow workers and labor siblings. The fight continues, take some time for yourself if you can.
Is anyone here employed by Fresenius medical services? What are your thoughts on the use of the schedulewise software that schedules your patients. That's literally all they care about is what time your patients start treatment. To reduce labor cost and cut hours while making the patients less safe.
